hi everyone :flower:

i'm getting my first IUI this week, and i'm wondering what to do as far as exercise.. i'm an avid runner (marathons), although i haven't been running for the last 6 months due to a knee surgery. i just started running again 2 weeks ago. anyway, will i be able to run after the IUI? i was thinking of taking 2 weeks off, but that just seems like forever... any thoughts?

I also run (no marathons yet) and had the same questions. I just finished my first 10K this past weekend and have a half scheduled for May. :) I asked my Dr and she says you can keep running - just not the day of the IUI. However, I may take it pretty easy during the 2WW. I had a wise woman on here tell me that if it is something you may regret if things don't work well - better to not have to continue to question if you caused it.

Will be so hard though because 2 weeks of training is LONG!!!

Good luck with your IUI this week! We are just waiting for the happy face or Monday (whichever comes soonest) for our first one.

I'm a runner too.. and I had an IUI in January. I took the day of the IUI off- the next day I only went for a walk and the rest of the 2ww I took it easy. I think it's fine to still lightly workout but take it easy just in case. I agree with 31andTrying- if you get a BFN- are you going to regret something you did? If so, don't do it. It was HARD for me to stop honestly because I am like addicted to running, lol.. but it was worth it. I DID end up getting a BFP, sadly miscarried- but it worked. best of luck! :dust:

Thanks ladies!

I guess I'll rest for the 2ww.. I wouldn't want to get a BFN and think it may be due to running. :nope:

After my 1st IUI... I rested way more than I wanted to rest... but I was also tired and sick, so that made a HUGE difference in how I felt. After my 2nd IUI, I kept my usual gym routine- but didn't push myself as hard. Made sure I kept my HR at 140 or under... and used lighter weights etc... I asked my FS and he said it was fine to continue to workout, but that first week after just take is easier. So I just did lots of walking and light cardio... I just figured what would be would be regardless... but, you have to do what feels right for you.

Best of luck to you hun!!!!!

I too am an avid runner and have an 8K scheduled for the 2nd of April and a 10K for the 1st of May and was wondering about what to do as I just had IUI yesterday and today.

I have decided that I will take today off and then I'm going to limit myself in the next two weeks to walking / light jogs or spinning. I also booked a few yoga sessions to try and help me relax and destress!!!!

Glad to meet other women like myself who are not only suffering through IUIs and fertility challenges but also who are avid runners. We definitely have a lot in common.
