i have been under the care of my FS since Oct09 and since then we have had all the nesessary tests carried out. Our next app is sept 2010 and she said she will be refering us for iui. I know everywhere is different but do you think i will have to wait ages for iui?

Would like to hear your experiences x

ps we are unexplained at the moment.

anyone have any ideas? Im keen to find out how long you girls had to wait for your 1st iui x

We're also unexplained and have had all the tests done privately through our insurance but the consultant has now referred me for IUI on the NHS. He explained they have an 18 week target from referall to treatment. I didn't think this was too bad but I'm still waiting for my appointment which should be in August - I last saw him in June - so now thinking I won't receive IUI until December / January. I'm trying to find out if its ok to have this done privately and also continue on the NHS, I'd be seeing the same doctor but just at different hospitals. Feels like we've been waiting so long and I don't think I can wait until the end of the year.
I'm based in Kent so not sure if the waiting time would be the same.

I am sure all the PCTs are different but here in Cornwall they actually said that they aim for you to be having your first treatment a year after your GP referall, so generally in your second year of ttc. They essentially drag all the other tests etc out to fit that timescale.

Have you had all the other tests like ultrasound and HSG?

Yeh i had an ultrasound in December last year and and HSG in January so i have had everything done that i can. Thats why i wondered how long i would have to wait till my 1st iui. I know everywhere seems to be different but i had heard it was roughly 18 weeks waiting list in Glasgow. It would be great if it was quicker!

it depends where you have it done - we are on the waiting list in Dundee and it's 1 year. we've been referred and we're officially on the waiting list. 18 weeks isn't that long :D :D

everywhere is different, i'm really lucky live in a small town, and we didn't have to wait at all for IUI, and just found out yesterday there's no waiting list for ivf either, although you do need to be ttc for 3 yrs when you're unexplained for ivf

i suppose i will just have to wait and see, im looking forward to my next appointment as i am getting clomid first. I wonder if that will make a difference ...

we're doing ours undrugged the first 3 times and then adding drugs if i don't get a BFP :D :D
