She told me my iron levels were seriously low. 3.9 and they should have been 7.9. I'm seriously worried I have to go to the health clinic tomorrow! :(
But she said she'd left iron tablets at the GP's office, why hadn't I gotten them? She told them to ring me... erghh!

with levels that low you need a blood transfusion not tablets. the tablets will take too long to start working. i had an emergency blood transfusion with levels at 7.0 and i was told it was amazing that i can even stand up. It was critical for me and the baby to boost the levels. x

i thought the cut off for low iron was 10.6? thats what i got told, as i was prescribed iron tablets when i was 10.4.

maybe ring back and ask as 3.9 is scary low. x

yeah 3.9 is way way way too low. id ring back and request them to check ur numbers. if they are 3.9 you should go a and e.

10 is the cut off and you should be normally above 14/15 x

She might have gotten it wrong, she is a bit dozy. But I've just gotten a letter from my doctors saying that I have to take 3 iron tablets a day, I thought the normal was 1. My parents are now a bit worried. :S x

Hope everything got sorted out for you.
I was told to go on iron tablets 3 days before I had Ava, they never told me what my levels were though?
Hope you're okay. x

3.9 is dangerously low, i had a blood transfusion when my iron level was 7. something and then even after that my levels still wernt as high as they should have been so i was still on 3 iron tablets a day, id ring your gp

They've put me on 3 iron tablets a day, I also have to go regularly to get my bloods checked. I have a midwife appointment in 2 weeks where she said she'd do them then. x
