Hi Ladies, I would be so grateful for any advice you can offer on our ttc journey. My husband and I have been ttc for 2.5 years and unfortunately suffered 2 early miscarriages.
hormone tests proved normal and an HSG revealed my tubes are open.
A transvaginal scan showed possible adenomyosis and then a laparoscopy found I have moderate endometriosis - a cyst on my ovary was drained and the ovary was freed from where it was stuck down.
After the op the consultant said that the next step for us is IVF, which came as a bit of a shock as to us this seems more of a last resort when other treatments have failed. Isn't there something less invasive we could try first?
We are both 32.
I have no idea how long NHS waiting lists are for IVF or how likely it is that it would help in our situation. Just feel like I've been plunged into another black hole! Just so desperate to have our much longed for baby but it seems the goalposts are always moving.
Thanks so much for reading, any advice would be amazing x

Hi Blueberry,

Sorry you're going through this :(
That does seem a but sudden for IVF. Do you know if your other half's side of things is all ok?
It's a couple if years since I started the IVF journey, it seemed ages to get an appointment but in reality I think it was a couple of months to get started. I think it depends which NHS trust you're under.
I would ask for clearer answers/reasons before you get shunted along to IVF.
This is hindsight talking, but I wish we had asked more and been more forceful with checking all our options had been covered before we started IVF.

Hope that's helpful. Here if you want to talk any further xxx

I'm sorry you are on this journey too. It's really your call. It has been almost 3 years for me and I'm tired of it. I am 27. So I took the clomid. Femera. Iuis. Route. And that works some people. It didn't work for me...do I wish I would have gone straight to ivf...I dunno if I would have been ready. But everyone is different and everyone's journey is different. You will get the quickest results with ivf probably...but it's expensive...and very involved. Lots of injections and appointments. But I'm hoping it is worth it :)

Hi, thanks so much for your reply. Yeah semen analysis was above average so the problem is just with me. We would like to know why IVF is the next step so I think I'll try to get some answers. I don't mind what we have to go through to get there but I want to make sure we have tried everything. Sorry for your struggles and losses too xx

Do you know if you have any problems ovulating? When I was being tested, they found out I wasn't ovulating due to PCOS. My husbands SA was good and my HSG was also clear. As a result, I was given Clomid before being referred for IVF.

I don't know if it's the same in every area but where I live, if your treatment is funded, they don't bother with IUI- the reason being that the success rates are so much lower than with IVF.

It does seem a bit hasty to jump straight to IVF but I'm sure you doctor has his/her reasons. If it were me, I would definitely try to find out why they feel IVF is the best route and if there other alternatives you can try first. That being said, I don't for one second regret going down the IVF route and given my age, I wouldn't have wanted to wait any longer trying out treatments that were unlikely to work.

I am so sorry :hugs: . I totally feel your pain. I started ttc when I was 30 and it took me 3+ yrs , 2 failed IVF to get my first ever BFP. I still remember the day when I was told about IVF. I was gutted  and I cried my heart out. I have seen many ladies with endo getting BFP naturally. I was not so lucky. Endo in the ovaries do effect the egg quality so that might be the reason you mc. I would also advice you to check you AMH level from my experience . Even I feel after 2.5 yrs of ttcing IVF is the best option. You talk with your doc why he thinks about IVF. The main reason they gave me was that the endo really effects the egg quality.

Hi coolstar, congratulations on your BFP.
Thanks for replying, I hadn't thought about egg quality being affected so I suppose with IVF they can assure the egg quality is sufficient. I don't think they test for AMH over here in UK on the NHS. Does that determine egg quality?
Wishing you a healthy pregnancy x

My IVF clinic checked my AMH levels but I can't remember whether my levels were checked before I was referred.

Blueberry, more then the egg quality it tells us about the egg reserve. Those who have PCOS tend to have high AMH value. I had AMH value of .9 which is low. You can have a look at this article
https://www.mjwcooper.com.au/blog.h...1&month=11&day=08&id=25:amh-and-endometriosis

There are many supplements like DHEA which improves egg quality. And it takes only one embryo to get a BFP. Baby dust to you !!
