IVF concerns

Hello, I've just been through an IVF cycle which failed because no eggs fertilized.

I was pleased with my clinic, but it has left me with a few questions about the way things were done and I wondered how other places did it.

1. My EC was done on Day 23 of my cycle. Yet I normally ovulate about day 12 or 14. It was put back a couple of days because of my response to Menapour but I think I lost my lead follicle and I thought it would be more in sync with my own cycle.

2. Fertility nurses did all the follicle scans and based EC just on this. I have read about other places also doing estrodil blood tests. I had none. Was this wrong?

3. And also I know the consultants are very busy, but wouldn't it be better if they did the scans?

4. Lastly, I did both my down reg and stim injections at the same time in the morning. Is that normal and do you think it would have been better to do one in the morning and one in the evening?

Thanks. I am just trying to work out what to do next. xx

hi

so sorry your cycle didn't work xx

1. the docs give you drugs so they can control your ovaries so it wont be the same as your normal cycle. for a start my period was 5 days late from DRing my EC was cycle day 22 so i wouldn't worry about that. i was also given menopur for a few extra days because my follies wern't big enough. different people respond differently to the drugs that's why no ivf cycle is the same

2. all the nurses are fully trained to do the scans. the only tests i had during my cycle were the scans they never did anything else.

3. i think if they got the consultants to do the scans they would be doing less ivf cycles as scans can take a while. i had 1 that lasted 3/4 of an hour cos they found it hard to see my ovaries

4. i really don't think it makes any difference when you take the drug and if you do them together or not. i did do mine separate but so wish i did them together would of been so much easier than doing it twice a day

hope this helps
:hug::hugs:
