IVF/ICSI in October

We seem to have a thread going for every other month so I thought I would start on for October.

Bit of history on me, we have been TTC for five years and this will be our first attempt at IVF. We'll actually be doing ICSI because we have MF.

Been to the fertility clinic this morning for a presentation on what happens, a course on all the drugs and how to take them and to sign all the consent forms. I'm going to be starting the pill next month and provisional egg collection and transfer are set for the week beginning 18 October.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment so some support from people going through it all would be great.

We're due to have ICSI in October too - hopefully will start down regging around the 16th September (if AF arrives as planed!) so EC and ET will be during October.

This will be our second fresh cycle, DH has anti sperm anti bodies, had first ICSI in January and only got 3 eggs and 2 embies, as we were having treatment on NHS we were only able to have one embie put back and when fresh cycle failed we had single FET in June but that was unsucessful too - so now moving onto self funded cycle.

Our fertility clinic are increasing stims this time as I did not produce as many eggs as hoped. I didn't have to take the pill, just starting down reggin injections on CD21 - will you need to do that too?

Only one obstacle in our way at the moment - they will be checking for hydrosalpinx at pre treatment scan and if present will need to have tube removed before starting treatment, I'm really hoping all will be ok and we can start as planned.

Hi guys

I am due to contact the hospital at the start of my August AF which will be just over 3 weeks away. I will be doing the normal protocol of down regging from Day 21 and then stimming probably 2 - 3 weeks after that. Unfortunately I am a bit of a pro at IVF, and based on previous cycles, I am guesstimating EC to be sometime during the week of 11 October.

I guess we'll all be bump buddies after being cycle buddies then!!

Hi MissMonty and Maz!

Two experts on IVF/ICSI. Lets hope this is the last time any of us have to do this.

MissMonty- good luck with the hydrosalpinx at your scan. Hope it is clear and you can carry on as planned. Our clinic is a bit different to yours, I have to start the pill with my August AF and then start down regging as soon as I finish that. I'm on a long protocal for this one because it is my first cycle and they don't know how I'll react.

Maz - are you doing IVF or ICSI this time around?

I'm doing ICSI this time round and hoping to do a day five transfer instead of day three.

Fingers crossed we'll all make it to 1st tri this time.

Hi Ladies don't know exactly but I think I will be hopping on to the October rollercoaster as you can see from my signature I'm a bit in limbo as to whats happened to my 1st attempt they think it is either biochemical or maybe eptopic hopefully find out on Monday but it's not looking good so I will hopefully be starting to plan #2 for Oct/Nov so I would love to join in. I didn't join for my 1st attempt from the start just quietly observed but I think it is a great help after going through to have others to talk to who are going through the same thing.

My 1st attempt was pretty textbook down regs and stims all went well, 17 follicles collected a lot of them were immature, 5 embryo's in total, 2 transferred on a day 3 transfer both 8 cells one with slight fragmentation. Successful IVF but unsuccessful pregnancy (why to follow). No frosties so we have to pay for full cycle yet again. (other half has children from previous relationship)

I think AF is on it's way I'm predicting she'll arrive full flow tomorrow, just hope the next 28 days go quickly so I can phone Care to start my next cycle!!

Thanks Miss Monty, I never realised what a traumatic time your emotions will go through, I would do the injections and everything 100 times over but the last couple of days of that 2 week wait is just awful, And now we wait again for more results and then wait some more to start again boo !! Hopefully we will all move over to 1st trimester together and just for starters lot's and lot's of

I think I'll be doing IVF in October. We haven't told the doctor our decisions yet, but that's what we've decided, pending how the house hunt goes. We want a big house in case of multiples!


How long before October would I have to start the process?

Hi ladies. Joined the September thread, but it might be October.....really not sure. On vacation now, but will start the process when I get back later in the month.

We have been ttc for almost 2 years. I have one blocked tube but my DH is fine. It will be our first attempt at IVF. Praying first time's the charm for us.

Well I will probably be popping in and out, When we thought it was a miscarriage I was gonna jump straight back on, But because it was eptopic and I've had my tubes removed and they also managed to put a hole in my bladder at the same time I'll probably give it a bit longer for my poor body to recover. So we'll probably wait till 2011 now but you never know I might get impatient. Good Luck everyone I'll keep checking to see how everyone is getting on xxxx

Big hugs bugs I'm sorry for all you've been through - sounds like you defo need some time to recover and I really hope your next treatment will be sucessful

AF arrived for me as planned at the weekend, actually it was really heavy and quite painful this month more so than after failed FET last month. Just counting down the days till next AF towards the end of August so I can phone Care to arrange pre treatment scan, I'm already starting to feel really nervous

Hi, we'll be doing EC and ET transfer in October (all being well) we've got to contact are fertility clinic day 1 of my next cycle which will be at the end of August to start the process, I think it will depend what protocol they suggest for you, we'll be doing the long protocol so process starts early, will need to have pre treatment scan about CD7 of next cycle and then will start meds CD21.

DH & I are planning on having one of our blastos put back in in my oct cycle. 1st FET for us since unsuccessful ICSI last oct. I've already joined the other oct thread as i didnt see this one til this evening!
