Hi ladies...
Just a quick question... im being offered the swine flu vaccine at work.. front line staff at the nhs. im due to start ivf in Jan.. should i have the vaccine? Has anyone else had the vaccine and then started ivf? Or while ttc?
Any advice appreciated. Ive searched on the net and some sites say to wait three months and then have ivf or wait three months before ttc. Any advice welcomed!!! thanks

I asked my RE about the swine flu vaccine and they recommended that I get it. I didn't ask any other questions about it though. And I don't know if it is different when doing IVF. Why don't you give your Dr. a call and see what he says. It would be horrible to jeapordize your IVF treatments!

yeah hun, I believe this a question for the Dr's and I think it's important to know where you stand

Hi ladies
I got the swine flu jab last week. I was at my local doctor to collect a sick line because of my 2nd m/c and i asked her could i get it before starting IVF treatment in Feb and she said yes. My IVF doctor who i also saw last week said the same thing if i am offered it get it before commencing treatment.

How weird as I was going to make this post. I am also a front line worker for the NHS who has been offered the swine flu vaccine and have my first IVF appointment in Jan. This has scared me a bit that you have read that you can't ttc for 3 months after as I couldn't handle the stress of any more trauma. Are you going to have it done?

Hi Chase... oh my goodness we are so similar!!i rang my clinic and spoke to the nurse who said that they do not have enough info about the vaccine to make any recommendations. they said i should speak to the ppl giving the vaccine and then make my own decision!! How bad is that!!!! i mean all i wanted was a yes or no!!!!! Chase...what have you decided to do? Im still not sure! Also... what have you told work? do you know what the nhs says regarding time off for ivf? I havent spoken to my manager as yet as im a bit scared!!! Which trust are you at?

I have just started down regging for my forst IVF cycle. I am a midwife and I asked one of the obstetric consultants about if I shoud have it or not, and sha said to definately, 100% have it. I had it about 3-4 weeks ago. Arm still hurts but I'm glad now that i've had it.

That was just one consultants advice though, but I trust her so went with her advice.
