I had been having pretty bad contractions for a few weeks before the birth, but they got worse on the evening of the 4th. I asked DH to call in to work that night because something was telling me it was time, even though the contractions weren't quite "right." DH gave our other boys their baths and after they were all in bed and asleep, we decided to go ahead to the hospital to get checked since the contractions hadn't eased, even though they hadn't really gotten worse.
At about 9:30, just as I was climbing into the truck to head to the hospital, my water broke. We got to the hospital a bit after 10. A cervical check around 10:30 showed me to be about 4 cm. A second check around 11 showed that I was at about 6cm, so the nurse started asking the routine questions. Fifteen minutes later, I was in so much pain, I actually was begging for an epidural, despite swearing I wanted to go natural. The nurse told me she had to get all the paperwork filled out first. That lasted around five minutes, then I had the insane urge to push. The nurse told me not to push because I was only at 6 cm and I would tear my cervix. I told her that I couldn't stop, so she checked me again and felt Jax's head. She then ran to the door and yelled for a delivery team to get there immediately. After about ten minutes of pushing, my precious baby boy was born at 11:41 pm. Altogether, my labor was just over two hours from my water breaking to holding him in my arms.
Despite the very short labor, I did have a few problems. I had a placenta abrubtion (placenta started detaching before he was born) which caused extremely heavy bleeding. I had to have a blood transfusion before going home. I also had extremely high blood pressure and they told me before checking my dilation and verifying that my water had broke that they were going to keep me either way due to my BP. Also, I didn't produce any milk or colostrum for him while in the hospital and had to give him formula. Luckily, those were all taken care of and I am now having the opposite problem with my milk supply. I swear, even thinking about feeding him causes my breasts to start engorging and leaking.

Thank you everyone. I am so happy that he's finally here. His brothers totally adore him and constantly want to hold, hug, and kiss him. It's so sweet.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby! That's so sweet that his brothers adore him! :D x
