So I went in to be induced at 9am last Saturday, I was honestly terrified, I'd gone into labour myself on my due date with my first and I had a homebirth planned so this was the total opposite to what I wanted! So off we went to the hospital me mum and DS1 where going to drop me off but when we got their was told my mum could stay, phew so she took LO home and came back to me. The induction bay was honestly awful at first, their was women in labour and i could hear other women screaming from the labour ward I just wanted to get my stuff and leave! At 10:20 I had the propress inserted, was no more uncomfortable than an internal and I was apparently 0 dilated and cervix very posterior, we decided to go for a walk straight after, walked all around the hospital and started getting pains, I was sat outside in the hospital carpark contracting, it was a beautiful day and the sun was so so hot, I decided I needed to go back to the ward as it was getting a lot more painful now. Got back and put my tens machine on, Highly recommend! I don't think it helped immensely with the pain but it sure took my mind off it! I felt abit stupid at this point asking to be examined or for pain relief as it had only been about an hour since I had the propress In, but I was in so so much pain I was crying to my mum, at this point I didn't care about being quiet (was whispering before as the only privacy you get is a curtain!) I kept saying over and over again I don't want to do it lol. I asked the midwife to check me so she put me on the monitors and iwas contracting so she checked and I was now 2cm, 2 midwives from the labour ward where with me at this point and said I could go down with them to the midwife led unit as they where quiet and I was obviously progressing. The room was beautiful, I honestly am glad I got to go their and am not upset in the slightest I didn't get my homebirth. Ok so contractions really kicked off when I got their, I had the patio doors open and was walking in and out, laid on a beanbag for a little while and bounced on the ball, I was really stressing because I thought I was still in early labour and that this would go on for ages, I asked them to check again as contractions seemed like they where on top of each other, she checked and I was 4cm! She gave me some gas and air which I found useless and I asked if I could get into the pool so they filled it up for me. WOW is all I can say, it was amazing! I had been in the pool for about 5 contractions when I felt like I needed to push, it was so strange as my body was telling me to push but my head was telling me I'm not ready! It all seemed to quick but I was pushing and just couldn't help it, I started to panic abit when his head was coming out and it was really so painful but the moment it popped out his body quickly followed, they unwrapped his cord which had been round his neck and I heard him cry, they lifted him on me and I just couldn't believe how tiny he looked! My mum cut the cord, in hindsight I wish I had done it myself but I'm glad she got to do it as I honestly couldn't have gotten through it without her. Anyway I got onto the bed had the jab for the placenta and it came out shortly afterwards I was checked over and got away with no stitches again which was a massive relief. I had so e skin to skin time and baby had his first feed which was lovely. I the. Got up and took what felt like the best shower of my life lol! We got baby dressed and then my dad arrived! We where on our way home an hour after I'd had him! I didn't realise just how quick it had been untill I read my notes, established labour time was just 41 minutes, just 6 hours from the start of induction and I was pushing for 2minutes! It was obviously at the time awful but really it was perfect I feel very lucky. He is a week old today and I am so in love with him, DS1 is being the most amazing big brother I honestly feel blessed to have them both.
