Figure its about time to type up my birth story while its all pretty fresh
I went in for my 37 week appt around 10am Monday morning (July 29th)hoping they were going to send me over to be induced so I hadnt eaten after midnight the night before just for that reason haha...I didnt want that to be the one thing that put me on hold they checked me...I was still 3cm but they knew how miserable I was...they called over the L&D who said they werent super busy so to come one over oh I was soo freaking happy!! And my mom and hubby that had come with me were too!
We went over I was in the biggest suite, twice the size of the other rooms because I was the only twin mom coming in so that was another moment
they got my labs and my IV going which blew a few out because my veins are horrid but finally in and then we were just waiting
My Dr made it over around 12:30 or so and put a scalp clip on Twin A and that broke my waters
and my gosh that was more pain than some of the contractions I had lol..having his arm half wayup my hooha lol
.after a bit they started Pitocin at 1ml/hour felt them..but was ok
.then each little bit they kicked it up and they got stronger and stronger
each contraction I would have fluid gushing..it was like there was no end to it lol..
I finally decided to get on the ball after a few hours because I was hurting from just sitting in bed and those contractions were soo horrid I guess because of the pressure of two babies down there and then having to hold myself up on the ball was just too much and gosh those were horrible..I asked for something to just take the edge off..so they gave me morphine which helped but they still hurt..so I decided to try and talk instead so I did that for a bit and would walk to one end of room and sit because would be dizzy and was eating a popsicle too lol .and omg they had the best freaking crushed ice EVER!! LOL..but anyway..walked from one end to the other breaking at each side for a bit and then the babies werent picking up on the mobile monitor and I was tired so got back in bed Pitocin was gradually kicked up to 20ml/hour which was my max because of my previous c-section and they checked again and still no more than 4cm ugh I was sooooo frustrated!!!
It was night time by now and my Dr told me that an epidural would help me relax and then maybe my body would dilate easier so I said well let me try to relax without it and actually rest which I was able to do but not full on sleep..so I finally said ok Ill get an epi and they would check me two hours later and see how I was doing . First epi attempt failed so I have a huge bruise because of that but once they got it in it worked pretty fast and I could feel that I was having them but it wasnt pain just a weird feeling So I finally slept a few hours and they checked and I was close to 5 .but we expected I would have been more so I asked to please please let me sleep and see if I could get further and since the babies were fine they said ok that was fine so 2 more hours..checked..and still 5 .two more hours checked and then was 6 and then two more hours and close to 7..and two more hours
finally at 8am we figured once I got to 7 or so it would go fast but then 2 more hours and was still close to 8cm .by this time I was soo tired and freaking starving and the boys were starting to have a few weird heart things but nothing they were super worried about..but I told them that I knew even if I got to 10 finally ( and I only had like 4 hours to do so because of the 24 hours from water breaking time limit) that I didnt feel like I would be able to feel to push..or be able to keep up pushing and the baby A hadnt moved down any at all either so I told them lets just to a c-section..and I was ok with it so they kicked up my epi and took me in around 8am .hubby had gone to get food so made it back last minute haha .I was awake the whole time..felt it all..tugging pulling pressure .it took forever to get Gabriel out because he was stuck..they even used forceps which is crazy for a c-section but they finally got him out at 8:35am and then Dexter followed soon after at 8:38am
Gabriel was 6lbs5oz and 18 and then Dexter was 6lbs1oz and 19.5 they were fine and got 8s then 9s on their 1 and 5 min apgars and we were taken back to the suite I slept for a bit while my mom and hubby had the boys and I was pretty out of it with such relief that it was over and they were healthy .after I was up for a bit I held and fed both of them and then they were asleep I asked for Zofran for nausea which was my biggest problem and then after a bit when that didnt work they gave me phenergran (sp?) which finally helped and I slept a while too the rest was just usual hospital stay and we finally came home Thursday a bit after lunchtime
My mom has been here and hubby had taken the week off so my mom stayed in nursery with me sleeping in the twin bed and I slept in the recliner..they eat pretty well..we are just doing formula because BF-ing was causing anxiety attack feelings which I had along with PPD with LO and I didnt want to go through that again..so I decided Friday night that I would just do bottles for my sanity and so they could have a happy mom..they got colostrum up until then so I feel good about that they are both 6lbs2oz now and doing great though Gabriel is a bit jaundiced but just keeping him in sunlight at home for treatment and it seems to be helping
