I love my MIL2B dearly, she is wonderful and I am very lucky.

She would like to be invlolved in the planning of our wedding but OH and I are fairly independant and have most of it tied up already - we want to have as stress free a day and run up as possible and a very simple but fun day with just our closest family and friends.

She offered to sort the flowers but because I am not entirely sure of what I want, thats no good as I am not the sort of person who could happily just turn up on my wedding day and see what flowers were delivered.

So, have you any ideas how I can get her involved?

She is coming dress shopping with my Mumsy and SIL2b so I have got her in that, I have mailed her with the flowers I think I like to see what she thinks and I will keep her involved as much as possible but I'd like to give her something if that makes sense?

She is a bit older (in her 60's) and I think she "needs" to feel useful love her.

We are having really simple favours of Brighton rock in little bags which we already have sat here as we got them on offer.

I could ask her to put them together but I think I'd like something a little bit more than that.

Cake tasting! If she refuses im coming haha x

Invitations? Its so easy to do handmade ones at home now xxx

How about some decorations for the cake table...my Ma made the favours (small candies and love hearts in organza bags) and my nice and nephew gave them out after the meal to keep them involved...but my Ma also decorated the cake table with leftovers from making the favours.

How about asking her to be in charge of the guestbook? Unless someone keeps track of it no one writes in in or it just gets left on a table or the pen gets lost!

Well, funny you should say that! We are going to ChoccyWoccyDooDahs tomorrow. My Mum was going to make it but I don't want her stressing in the lead up so we are going there to see about buying one.

I am going to be up and down to Brighton between now and the wedding so you are more than welcome to come any time you like :hugs:

Boofs, we are having some invites designed

Chuck, our wedding is so simple that there will be no real decoration etc. Pains aren't we!! The guest book idea is good, that will be something she can do on the day.

She is now paying for our flowers which is lovely of her so I am going to take her to the florist with me in March when we finalise the details and she is coming dress hunting with me and mum next week.

Im sure something will come up.....

Pops...ours was very simple...if you look at the hallowedding thread, we had glass plates and a few candles on each table (IKEA = cheap) and a handful of fake petals and some fake crystal confetti just for some sparkle.

My flowers went on the cake table along with what Ma put there!

BTW I am VERY jealous of the choccywoccydoodah cake...we had a VERY simple marks and Spenser sponge cake for £60 with rubber duck cake toppers! LOL

The guestbook thing is good...that way MIL can meet and greet everyone...they tend to like that,
