Yep, already thinking about baby number 2 before baby number 1 has even arrived! So we were talking names earlier and my partner told me his second choice after Zach would have been Joshua. It's a name I quite like but I don't think I'm crazy about it. So I'm interested to hear your opinions. I'd love to give a second son a name my partner loves as much as he loves Zach's name.

I think my reservation relates to the whole "just joshing" thing, like having a lark...Old fashioned yes, and I'm not sure anyone says that any more, but it's what comes to mind!

Thoughts?

I love Joshua/Josh and think it goes well with Zach.

I love Joshua and have one myself! I always saying "only joshing" haha, I think it's cute but tbh never link it with the name, I very rarely hear it said by anyone else and as the name is much more common than the expression I don't think it's something that'll be laughed, or joshed ;), at. My only reservation was that in the UK (not sure where you are) it is a very popular name and even though lower down in the top 10 I know way more than I do at the top of the list, however, I just loved the name so much I couldn't not pick it just because of popularity. It goes really well with DS1's name (which is much less common) and I guess we're unusual in that we actually call him Joshua and not Josh, although I'm sure he will want to be called Josh when he's older, it's nice to have a nice sounding formal name but an easy nick name too!

So yeah big vote for Joshua here, also think it's one of those rare names that suit babies and men and a wide variety of "type" of people.

I love that you're picking your next baby's name already lol.

I love it :) DH is not keen though, but I think it's sweet and I love Josh and Joshy for a cute at home pet name.

Exactly this in all ways! We fought so hard against it as it's so popular but in the end it was his name, there was no other choice really. I love it :)

My nephew is Joshua (not josh) and I love it. Its a beautiful name and I would have used it if my sister didnt x

I have a Joshua, Josh for short. It's the only name i liked for a boy lol

Love the name Joshua, I have a nephew called Joshua (and one called Zak).

"Joshua, Joshua, what ya doing sitting here all alone ? Joshua, Joshua, ain't you got no body to call your own ?" - Sorry, huge Dolly Parton fan !

I love the name Joshua, I think it goes really well with Zachary. I have never heard of the phrase you're referring to.
