Well between moving and being completely busy with Madison and feeling like a whale while I was pregnant I never got a chance to come onto bnb and update on how we were all doing but here I am now! Hopefully (maybe) I will be able to get on a little more often...but with a toddler and a newborn we will see lol

This was my last bump picture at 38wks+5days and Josh was born at 39wks+2days.

Here is our story! (The shortened version anyways)

I was in so much pain that on wednesday (I think-or maybe the wednesday before) my doctor gave me a sweep to try and get things moving because baby boy was so low and causing so much pressure. Nothing really happened except some contractions that weren't very strong or close together. By saturday night/sunday early morning my contractions were getting a bit stronger and by 130am they were really strong so we called my mother in law to come and look after my daughter and we went to the hospital. I was only about 1-2cm dilated but they kept me for observation. Later that morning my contractions were still not that close together so they were going to send me home but I had been back and forth so much to the hospital my husband begged them to let me stay as my daughter was crawling all over me driving me nuts and I wouldn't be able to relax at home...they decided to keep me for observation until later that evening but by 3p my doctor checked me again and I was about 3-4cm and decided to break my water.

My membranes were really thick and there was a lot of fluid...she was quite surprised because it just kept gushing out lol My water was broke for 24 hours so they decided to put me on antibiotics to make sure I didn't get an infection.

On monday they eventually put me on pitosin and gave me my epidural. my contractions got stronger and the doctor that was on call checked me at 6p and I was 9cm (meanwhile I kept feeling like I had to push for hours before that and they would make me push and make me stop) but there was still a piece of cervix in the way and he kept trying to push more pitocin on me as well as fentonal (sp?) but the nurse didn't want to do that to me as I was already having contractions I could have killed someone over. I was in sooooo much pain I even begged them for a c-section because I was so exhausted and frustrated that they kept telling me not to push when I felt like I had to. This doctor also had a high risk clinic he was dealing with in the hospital so was back and forth and not really paying attention to what was going on. My oxygen kept dipping and I was in and out of consciousness for a couple hours.

Finally my doctor walked in (she was on call that night) and she checked me and said I was still only 9cm and then she pushed the cervix out of the way felt his head and said he was tilted just slightly (the reason I hadn't dilated all the way) she was a bit pissed at the other doctor for not doing something sooner and she turned his head told me to push and within 15 minutes he was out. I had never been so relieved in my life when she walked through the door.

Joshua Douglas Emmerson was born at 7:39pm on July 9th 2012. He weighed 8lbs 5.7oz and was 21 inches long.

My delivery was awful. He was a lot bigger than I thought he was going to be but I only had a couple stitches and felt 10 times better afterwards then I did with my daughter who's delivery was only 35 minutes and I had second degree tears and couldn't move out of bed so that part was great!

I really think he would have been born a lot sooner if my doctor had of been there because this doctor was too quick to push the drugs on me and didn't check me or baby properly to see if there was a reason I wasn't dilating fully. I am glad it is over and I am so glad he is here and I am not sure I ever want to go through that again lol

We had some issues while we were in hospital. I decided to breastfeed this time around but he wouldn't latch. We tried everything but even a bottle he wouldn't take. We figured out that for some reason he wasn't sucking and swallowing so I spent quite some time pumping and trying to get him to eat. They fed him for the first while with a syringe and eventually moved to feeding him with a finger tube which triggered him to start sucking and swallowing but he still wouldn't latch. They told me I was doing everything right and I had good technique it was just him not doing what he was supposed to. They eventually brought me a nipple shield and low and behold he latched and actually nursed from me. I hate the nipple shield but if it's the only way I can get him to eat I will do it! I am hoping we can get him off of it eventually and I keep trying to nurse him on just breast but so far no luck.

While we were there he also had a bit of jaundice and ended up in a bili blanket and his sugars were low...his were 2.3 and they needed to be 2.6 at a day and 2 old. Eventually they had to put him on a glucose (?) IV for 24 hours to get his sugar levels up...he only had it in for a couple hours and ripped it out so the nurse left it out to see if we could do it on our own after having it in for a bit. His levels went up over 4 but after 3 days they want their levels to be over 3 and his went back down to 2.6 and wouldn't stay up. I pumped and nursed and supplemented with breastmilk to make sure he was getting enough and they checked his sugar every 3 hours a half hour after he fed and finally on Thursday night he was able to come home.

Thank goodness because I was going stir crazy in there! We had a bit of a difficult start but he is doing okay now! He was 7lbs 9oz when we left the hospital and 7lbs 9oz that monday when we seen my doctor and this monday that just went by he was checked again by my doctor and was 8lbs 4oz so almost back up to his birth weight! She said he was doing good because most breastfed babies don't reach their birth weight until about 3 wks later and he was only 2 wks old! :)

He is precious and so alert! So I know my birth story was nothing major and I left some stuff out or didn't elaborate on other but I gave you the basics :) Half the stuff I don't even remember lol I think hubby may have written some of it down somewhere but I have no idea!

Here are some pics of our little boy!!

He is adorable, P. :D Seriously THE CUTEST! :D He was the same birth size as Elliot EXCEPT I AM 6 FT TALL hahaha. Poor you!

Haha I know eh?! I am 4ft 11inches lol and have a super small torso so I am surprised he had any room in there!

I only gained 12 lbs during the pregnancy though (and he was 8.5 of it) so he was pretty much all baby!! And I am down 19lbs!! Woohoo!
