I'm breastfeeding. But I intended to do so with my son and it lasted 11 days. Hoping to do a lot better this time but won't feel guilty if I have trouble again and can't do it.

Do you mine my asking why you had to stop?

He would feed for an hour and a half with less than an hours break in between. He was latching properly but HV figured that he just wasn't getting enough. I was so tired from it as it takes up so much energy and I was really struggling to eat the amount of food a normal person should eat never mind a breast feeding mother then I caught myself almost falling asleep over him. Like I was feeding him and I was about to double over over him and I just thought it's not safe feeding him this tired. He thrived a lot better on formula milk. Not just slept better but the first time I gave it to him at 11 days old he polished off 9 ounces in one go...seemed like he was pretty hungry and I obviously hadn't been able to give him much milk. I felt so guilty about it but it was was best for him. x

You shouldn't have felt guilty about it though hun, it happens At the end of the day you did what's best for your baby, never feel bad for doing that

With my first everyone said I was going to go early & he was born day before his due date!

Im hoping to go this time in a couple of weeks as getting so tired & uncomfortable now..

Im going to be bottle feeding this time ( I will express as much as I can of my own milk) and top up with formula.

Linzi - i was in bishops stortford today! Got lost on way back to roydon!! Was thinking about you xx

UPDATE- Claire Elise was born At 6:48 this morning by c- section. I labored for almost 16 hours and had to have the section at the last min. Because I was having strong contractions and her heart rate was dipping a bit. I'll post a proper birth story when I can use my laptop instead of my phone & add some pics. She was 7 lbs 3 oz & 21 1/2" long! No complications other than her sugar being a little low (I'm type II diabetic, so we expected that & it had nothing to do with her early arrival). Thanks for all the messages of encouragement. They were truly appreciated!
