I was just diagnosed this morning from a trans vaginal ultrasound. Previous hormone & thyroid blood work has been "normal" including CD 3 testing. But on the ultrasound she said I had many "resting eggs" and that I "definitely had PCOS" I saw the little spots for myself, but not sure what they really mean.
- How can I have PCOS? Is it possible that they are wrong? I am normal weight, no family history of infertility, diabetes, or PCOS, and have no excessive hair growth or other symptoms. In fact I have always been the girl that everyone couldn't believe I was so skinny because of all the junk food I used to eat (now I am trying to eat much healthier - fruit, vegetables, dairy, etc. no more processed foods or fast food for me!) I have never drank soda, or coffee, or much alcohol.
I have so many questions..
- I asked the doctor if she could see if I have ovulated and she said that she doubted I had. Could the doctor really be able to tell or not if I ovulated last week - 7dpo today - for example? From what I've read online they can only tell by seeing which of the follicles has "disappeared" but sounds like they would have needed an earlier ultrasound from earlier in the cycle to compare it to. Therefore is it possible that I did already ovulate? I have been going to acupuncture lately, and amazingly around the expected time for a normal cycle last week (7 days ago) I had really massive CM, spotting, and slight cramping? So I thought I had ovulated. She said it is possible but "she doubts" that I did ovulate yet this cycle. But she did not really give me a reason why. Oh and my lining was 5. something MM
- If I really did ovulate last week then does that mean that maybe I don't have PCOS? As best as I understand, PCOS means you have lots of little follicles instead of 1 big one - and so it's not being matured and released. But if I already did ovulate, then wouldn't all of those other little follicles be normal because they are just waiting until the next time?
I'm lost, and confused, and still don't really understand what PCOS is or how I could have it
