Just had an early scan. Very confused.

I am pregnant again after the miscarriage at the end of January. It wasn't planned and a big surprise as we intended to wait at least a cycle. As such, I have no period dates to go by.

I had positive opk on 17th Feb. had pains on 17th feb and had more pains a few days later so not sure when I ovulated. I had a positive clear blue on 5th March (2-3 weeks), but this had went down to 1-2 weeks a week later. Had issues with lines getting fainter on tests but they were out of date.

Going by this I was expecting to be 6.5 to 7 weeks.

The scan today only showed a gestational sac and a yolk sac, and perhaps the start of a baby but she couldn't be sure. She reckoned I would be about 5.5wks.

If I got the opk on 17th + 36 hours, I reckon the latest I could have ovulated was 20th, which would have been 3+6 for the positive test, and 6 wks today at the earliest.

My symptoms have starting disappearing the past few days, I was quite crampy before this (which was the same as my daughter, and stopped at about 5 - 6 weeks) and the breast tenderness has almost gone now too ( cant remember how this was with my first pregnancy).

I guess I could be 6 weeks and she could be a few days out on the scan. I am trying not to lose hope, but its hard after the last time, and its another 10 wait to the next scan. I am so disheartened and feel a bit numb about it.

What makes it worse is that my insensitive SIL could not *wait to announce her early pregnancy just after my miscarriage and has done nothing but complain about her symptoms.

Hi there that was very insensitive of ur sil :(

:hugs:

Have u taken another pregnancy test recently to check your lines are getting darker? Only reason I say this I had a chemical miscarriage a week ago and my lines didn't get darker from 12 dpo - 16 dpo when I miscarrryed. Also my boobs started to go back to normal and sickness disappeared... Hopefully this won't happen to u tho :)
Good luck and hope you have a h&h 9 months :) xxxx

So sorry for your loss xx

Done another two tests tonight (two different brands). Both are strong positives and came up straight away. I was out for dinner tonight and almost vomited at the smell of hubbies dinner (jalfrezi). I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

Have read lots of stories of fetal poles not being seen at early six weeks. I also think I have tilted uterus. (was told this during my first pregnancy - does this change from pregnancy to pregnancy??), which I read also makes it harder to see.

Awesome news :) I would relax and look forward to your 12 week scan exciting stuff xxxxx

At my 6 week scan they saw a sac and yolk sac. 3 weeks later they saw a baby. She is now a week old. She always measured on the small side, even from then. So just because they didn't see what you expected to see. Plus if your in the UK the machines some machines aren't as good as others, so they aren't always the best for dating pregnancy.

At my 6 week scan all we saw was a yolk sac as well and I was very upset (I knew when I had ovulated as well and I knew I would be 6w 3d at that point)... We came back I think 2 weeks later and saw a heartbeat and I'm now 32 weeks. :) My doctor said it's not uncommon... Don't lose hope yet.
