As of april you get to keep all of your maintanence money and all of your IS. So if fob gives you £50 a week, you get to have it all and all of however much IS you get

I had my work focused interview yesterday and the man who interviewed me told me if i was considering going to the csa that is whats happening.

Just thought id let people no incase anyone else didnt no :)

:flower:

Thanks for letting us know. Good to know in case I have to go onto IS at some point.

oh wow really?? so the ol ' you can only keep £20 if your on benefits ' doesnt apply anymore?! thats brilliant!!

i wonder why they haven't written to me to tell me. i've been having to phone them every month and send letters with copies of my bank statements. it's a right pain.

I know!!!! :happydance:

Im contacting the csa aswell now, im fed up with him thinking he's got off scot free! Did you apply online? cos when i went to and said i was on IS, the website said i had to go to my job centre.... confused???? lol

i filled in application over the phone, was really quick and the girl was really nice

Ahhh thanks! I was worried over the phone would take forever!! xx

yep, i applied on the phone, girl was lovely and was quick! just ring up, have your NI number to hand and bank details x

I'm tempted to do this, but at the same time I'm terrified that contributing money would go in fob's favour if he ever decided to try to get rights. Plus I don't need his money, and I'd be taking it for purely spiteful reasons (so he can't go to gigs and stuff )

Also don't really want to be involved with him in any way shape or form. Hmm, think I'll just leave it

csa cant give him ANY info about you if that helps...he should be paying! even if you put the money into his trust fund?

Not bothered about him knowing anything about me... but what if (and this is highly unlikely) he decided to go to court for rights (he's not on birth certificate), and he had been paying maintenance, would that go in his favour? I don't want him having any contact at all. Though would the fact he's never bothered to see his son, and the fact he's under investigation from the police atm for inappropriate stuff on the net (asking 16yr olds for topless pics/posing as a glamour photographer) counteract that?

I do agree that he should be paying something though. He shouldn't get off scot free!

yeh i think it would counteract it if hes in trouble with the police, for that kinda stuff, definately. And the fact hes not bothered so far aswell the courts would go in YOUR favour for sure. He could get branded a paedo, i dunno what hes done but sounds innapropriate, so he might not even be allowed near kids etc, the fact he hasnt tried tho so far speaks volumes, i would def apply.

the quicker you apply the better as they will only backdate it to when they first make contact with him. My problem is getting him to pay what they have said is due. Not had a penny from him since 2006 the CSA established contact in 2008 so he only has to pay from then but still getting nothing. Also what realy annoys me is the fact they work out how much he should be providing for his new partner who has 4 kids (none of the his) before they work out what i am due!!!!!

Monkeh, you are right to be wary, I am not claiming any money either because IF they do take us to court, it goes in their favour if they are paying maintenance and that is a fact. The judge will rule that he is paying and should have some form of contact be it direct or indirect. If they do not pay and take us to court for access, it will go against them that they have not paid at all.

My ex can keep his money, I dont want anything to do with him.

hmm interesting, i wonder why they didnt tell me this at my interview thingy?

I wonder how much more i would get...

is it worth pissing off FOB tho...

decisions decisions....

If he paids you less then I think 25 percent of his wages, you can still use the CSA to get more money and you will get to keep this on top of all your benefits. So if he pays you £300 a week, you can keep this on top of benefits!

I have not applied for maintenance and I do not want to, for me it was never about money, it was about him being a decent father. But I can understand those of you who wanted the fathers in babies life, and they have refused seeking maintenance.

I got a letter saying I would go up to £131 a fortnight after April 12th

First day of that was yesterday... I only got £112. I friggin hate these things sometimes. Why tell me I get more then not bloody give it me?!
