Hey girls, just wanted a bit of moral support. I've been EBF up until now, but a few days ago my milk supply was getting lower and lower.:cry: I have now introduced a bottle of formula at bedtime, which she guzzles down :thumbup:. I feel really sad somehow, like the end of an era that I'm not exclusively breastfeeding anymore. :cry: Has anyone else felt the same?? How have you dealt with it?

I'm still planning to bf her as much as possible for another month at least, then gradually introduce more bottles. Any advice on how to best do that?

:hugs::hugs:

I dont have advise hun as I didnt have any milk to BF & tried for 1 month without success. I felt bad at 1st & cried alot because of it, but when I saw that my DS is happy & thriving, it all changed & I started to feel better. Good luck hun xx

thanks, I think it will get easier with time hopefully. x

Aww don't feel bad, just think about the fact that you did breastfeed for a little while and gave your baby a good healthy start! There are tons of babies out there that are formula fed and they still grow up to be healthy and happy! :hugs:
Oh and as far as how to introduce formula, maybe mix a little in a bottle with some expressed milk?

my milk supply dried up due to stress, and I only got to BF for 2 weeks, I was a bit gutted but also told myself I was lucky to have done what I did, and he got the best of the milk for him. He is thriving on formula, and while it might not have been my chosen method, the perks are your Oh and anyone else can feed your baby giving you a break.
can advise you on the change, other than you have lots of support xxxxx

Hey Fluff, dont feel bad honey, youve done a great job to last this long, youve given her the best start xxxx

You know roughly how down I was and I cried a lot if I'm honest. But once I saw Molly enjoying her milky, I felt a bit better, like she was happy and I was contributing to that. It will get easier as time goes on but it's ok to feel sad for a while, it's completely normal. xxx

My milk supply just didn't keep up with their growth as they went on nursing strike.
I introduced initially a bottle at the dream feed at 10:30. I then added a bottle in at 6:30pm after bath. I then gave a bottle at 11am. Then rolled in the 2:30pm bottle. After a while I then replaced the morning (7am) feed with a bottle and then let them lead as to when they wanted other feeds. I used to do a 5pm feed as they seemed to want to cluster feed and then dropped the 10:30pm feed. I allowed 2 days between each bottle being dropped, but that was because my boobs really didn't seem to get engorged from missing feeds, so obviously wasn't much milk in them! I would see how you go with dropping one feed and seeing how many days it takes for you to feel comfy having dropped that feed, then choose another time to roll another feed in.

thanks hun. she is enjoying the bottle at night, I guess that should make me feel better. she guzzles it like there's no tomorrow. :) I suppose it being a gradual process will help me get used to it too.xx
