The only thing i got packd which isnt on your list is a shawl to put over babyxx

7 breast pads??? Surely it would be wiser to pack 8?? Just saying. But sounds like you pretty much got everything! Dont forget camera!

thanks ladies,

yes a blanket! forgot that! thank you! :)

7 breast pads, I just pulled that many out of the box, ha! I can throw another one in! :)
Edit: hehe! baby brain! Its 7 packs of breast pads, 2 in each pack! I see what you mean now by needing 8! Doh! silly me!

You got me going through my bags now lol!! Another thing for baby cotton wool balls for toping and tailing them?? thats it from me everything else you got from my bag lolx

I've also packed a teddy for baby and snacks/drinks for myself and OH including a pack of crumpets!! Hated hospital toast last time :)

I've got 2 dark towel, 2 flannels and 2 blankets in baby's bag. I have cotton wool too for LO's bum but have packed 1 pack of wipes in my bag for me and LO if cotton wool drives me insane. Camera? Oh I have lanisoh nipple cream too x

Your notes and the telephone number for Treliske Hospital in Truro (unless your going North Cornwall and therefor plan to go to Derriford on Plymouth if you need to - note if you go Derriford you need £1.50 for the plymouth toll bridge).

If you want the number of the maternity wing at Treliske drop me a pm :)

Can i ask what area of Cornwall you are holidaying at?

I'm packing a few bits for my OH - fresh pair of undercrackers :haha:, toothbrush, deodorant and a clean tshirt just incase it's a long, sweaty, intense labour lol :flower: x

I would pack some cheap big knickers as well as the disposable ones just in case as I had to have a c-section in the end and the disposable ones really dug in so couldn't wear them. Asda do a pack of 5 for £2.50 and are comfortable anyway. Cotton wool and camera are a must and don't forget charger for your mobile phone if you're taking one in. A book or something to read may help as you could be waiting around. xx

we're staying at Torpoint going to a friends wedding in Liskard, so I guess Derriford is the place to go? thanks for the tip about the toll bridge! We have a sat nav so hopefully be able to find our way to the hospital if needed!:)

I thought about cotton wool, but thought it might be to much of a hassel in hospital so have put in unscented wipes for LO.. Do I need to take towels, do the hospitals provide them?

Blongie35, thanks for the tip about the knickers! I have some BIG ones at home that are old so i'll pack them! :)
x

Hairbands? I have packed a cotton wool pleat as balls may be a bit tiny to deal with babys first poo :)

Good thread, I thought my bag was ready but it's given me a few ideas :)

only thing I loved when having ds that I haven't seen mentioned so far is lipbalm. Lips can get uncomfortably dry during labour :flower:

thanks ladies,

Ive popped in some vaseline for my lips, the big knickers and some hairbands!
oh, got my notes and a camera!

Im off to cornwall now, so hopefully Ive got everything just incase!

xx

Yes Derriford is your nearest hospital, just over the Tamar so you will end up going by Ferry rather than bridge, it is payment going in to Plymouth but free coming)

If something happens and you need to get to hospital urgently, when you arrive at the Ferry tell the person as they have blue lights, will only do a part load and steam (well chain) the ferry across asap - they do this for police cars, ambulances and fire engines etc.

My husband is living at Torpoint at the moment with the Navy and with it only being down the road I have gone there many a times :)

I was going to pack a couple of more things that are more for the labour, my birth plan, my music for labour and a squirter bottle to spray water on my face if I get hot along with a face wash cloth and I was also taking a heat wheat pack.

Love

I've heard they don't like you to use wipes in hospital, so I would take cotton wool - I'm taking the pleated stuff, don't think balls are big enough for yucky meconium!
We also have a few more bits for dh - change of underwear and trousers, and swim trunks for the birthing pool and for helping me in the shower if I need him to afterwards.
Something to do aswell in case you have a slow labour - magazines (lots of pictures!), puzzle book, pack of playing cards.
We are taking a bag of snack food & drinks too, bendy straws, lucozade tablets to suck on.

thanks ladies, Im back from cornwall, and baby didn't make an appearance, I'l pack the extra bits into my bag now.. I figured if I was going to have the baby in a different part of the country I may not need magazines etc, as i'd be too freaked out!! but now im back home safe I will probably pack a few mags etc... Although im thinking I might need a bigger big, or get hubby to pack it, as he is much better at packing things than me, I just tend to throw everything in! ha!
