Well girls, after my 'what week where your twins born' post, I ended up in hospital on Tuesday night almost having mine at 31 weeks!! Thankfully they're still safely tucked up in my tummy but what a scare we had
Was very uncomfortable all day Tuesday, with back pain and pressure that was getting steadily worse. Phoned the local midwife at 3pm who agreed to scan me at 9pm in the out of hours clinic (in her own time, bless her).
However by the time DH got home from work at 5.55pm I was in tears. DH phoned GP for advice, who told him to phone an ambulance. Whilst waiting for the ambulance, another (off-duty) GP turned up at my door-step to check me out. We still haven't found out how he was alerted! He then phoned to tell the ambulance to hurry up as he thought i might have had a placental abruption.
Ambulance took me to local hospital 30mins away and I was as sick as a dog on the way there. Once at my local hospital, they checked cervix and said it was closed but the monitor was picking up contractions! I was given drugs to try to stop contractions and got my first dose of steroids.
Decision was then taken to transfer me to another hospital with superior neonatal intensive care facilities incase babies arrived, so que me, DH, a midwife and 2 paramedics flying up the road with blue lights flashing and sirens wailing! I was also terribly sick during this journey. I spent the night in a delivery room with a midwife, scanner and heart monitor all to myself as they thought our twins were on their way.
Thankfully the contractions I didn't know I was having stopped during the night and i was transferred to a maternity ward to be monitored yesterday morning. Also got my full dose of steroids. Was discharged this afternoon as things have settled down considerably.
Phew! I have been so overwhelmed I can't believe it all actually happened. Moral of the story is girls, don't take any risks with aches and pains as u just don't know what the heck might happen!!
Doctor has told me that getting to 34 weeks would now be good, and not 37 as originally planned. I'll be 32 weeks tomorrow so please cross your fingers I've got at least another 2 weeks of cooking time left.
***I just had a look at one of 'I AM LIVID'S' posts and she had a very similar story and happily made it past 36 weeks Let's hope i manage the same***
What a mad few days............
