Just told my dad!

I don't really see or speak to my dad that much because we aren't very close as a family. I've been trying to build up the courage for a while to tell him I'm pregnant because I wasn't sure how he'd react. He's an alcoholic & his moods and mind can change very fast.

It actually turned out to be a very funny experience though. He phoned to see if I was coming over at Christmas & I thought "well no time like the present" and did it. He went quite and then said "just a moment, I need a sip of wisky"..... followed by quite a long pause while you could hear him drinking and choking on whiskey, followed eventually by him being happy about it. Thank God thats over with.

Aww, glad he took it uh kinda well? I'm sure choking on whiskey must hurt lol but I think its funny and cute the way he reacted! I bet its a load off your shoulders now.

Thanks everyone. Apparently he phoned my mum and sister afterwards saying that he isn't happy to be a Grandad before 50 (they had me young) and kept saying "What can we do" to which my mum and sister both said "nothing, why would we want to".

I think because of his drinking problem he seems very stuck in the past and probably thinks I'm still about 16. He'd totally forgot I was engaged to DP..... infact I think he forgot about DP completely .

How old are you? I mean if your over the age of 18 your an adult, so I wouldnt feel bad My mom is 52 and Dad is 56. I think if I didnt have a baby much sooner they were really going to start bugging me! Sometimes you cant win with parents

I'm sure it's a huge relief to have told your Dad. I wouldn't worry about his comments, it was probably the wisky talking, anyway!
