Why do they say if your LO feeds off of both boobs the next feeding to start them off on the last one they ate off of? lol random question i know but im just curious

To make sure you totally drain the 2nd breast of all the rich fatty hind milk. :)

:dohh: how could i have not known that?!

Just alternate which one you start from, don't worry about which one you finished feeding from. Erin only feeds from one side a lot of the time.

It's right about making sure the 1st breast is drained as much as possible before swapping so baby gets all the hindmilk though

I only really consciously go back to the same side if it's less than an hour since she was on that side - IYKWIM.

:shrug:the bf counsellor ive been seeing says the theory about fore and hind milk has now gone out the window so not to worry about ensuring that baby gets all the milk from one side before changing to the other if needed?

Thats interesting....I'm doing some BF support training at the moment so I'll see if they've heard that one. Theories do change though dont they!

They did mention this at my training but it's mad...if you've ever expressed you can see that it's skimmed at the beginning of expressing and definitely turns into "gold top" towards the end:dohh:
