Hey Guys

Can anyone tell me if they had to have a Karotype Test done for IVF and is it standard?

Was the wait long for the results?

Did anyone just have the standard bloods and SA tests done and still have ICSI?

Ta! :hugs:

Yes, we are doing ICSI in the United States and were not required to do karyotyping. We just had to do all the standard blood tests (infectious disease panel and hormones) along with a water ultrasound to check out my uterus.

Never heard of karotyping (sp?)

I had the normal CD3, CD21, and AMH bloods done before I started my last cycle. I don't need to have them repeated for this next cycle as they are good for 12 months or so.

OOOh intriguing?! i did a google and it's for chromosome defects so maybe if they know there is an issue, that is why they do it? DH just has few too many swimmers bless him!!

Yeah, it's actually really cool. They map out the chromosomes and make sure you have 2 of every one. No singles or triples or missing some all together.

vineyard did your DH have it done? is there any reason why they do it? just wondered as DH hasn't been sent for it?!?

No, my husband did not have it done. I don't think they would do it unless there is a history of a genetic disease (ie. Downs syndrome, etc.).

Cool - well not cool, you know what i mean!
I guess they look at your history and if there aren't any concerns then you just crack on.

I now feel very scared about it all approaching!!
