We've just got back from the hospital. Kaya's back to her usual self except for a nasty cough. I'll try and post the story tonight once she's in bed. Soo relieved to be home :cloud9::happydance::sleep:

Glad to hear you're all home and Kaya's doing well. Might have missed the thread, but is she ill? Hope she is feeling better and you all get some rest after the tough day/night.

Thanks all. Kaya started to get sick on thursday night and we were at the out of hours docs on friday, saturday, sunday and monday - when we were finally sent to the hospital. She was really dehydrated and had to be hooked up to an IV for fluids. Her temp got as high as 39.2 degrees at times, but all they could really do was give her fluids and paracetomol as they thought it was a virus. She was throwing up after every feed until tuesday night. They took eye swabs of her conjunctivitis and it showed that she also had a bug - strep b. They were worried about this as it's a really rare bug to get in an older baby, so they decided to do a lumbar puncture to rule out meningitis - I didn't go with her for that, made her dad go instead. They started her on antibiotics as well.

This morning the doc told us that she'd been given the wrong results and that Kaya had actually had strep b in her eyes when she was 3 weeks old and got conjunctivitis. This time it was a different bug, but luckily it was the same treatment.

So, she had a virus and an infection at the same time which totally knocked her for six. Today she's been much like her usual self, but a bit cranky and a bit more sleepy.

Glad to hear she's starting to get back to her old self and they've figured out what was wrong in the first place.

    Feel better soon Kaya!

    x
