Hi girls, I'm 24 weeks pregnant and been put on bedrest due to threatened pre term labour, was just wondering if anyone has any ideas to keep me sane, and keep the boredom at bay whilst I'm on bedrest... thanks girls xxxx

Perhaps make up some lists of things you will need. For example, hospital bag, call list when full term labor does occur, baby registry lists.

I had about 3 months of bed rest....so so dull! I just ate too much (be careful or boredom eating, or people bringing gifts of chocolate!!), and:

took up knitting - knitted a ridiculously long scarf
Did on line language lessons (you can find free ones)
Lots of internet shopping and browsing for baby
kept a diary, which really helped deal with the worries i had about the pregnancy
watched lots of comedy films and classic movies to pass a few hours

Thanks hon, that sounds like a good plan, I want to be able to do something kind of creative that I can do in bed, but the only thing i can really do is glass painting which i cant do in bed! I still have 16 more weeks till LO is due, and am going to be on bedrest for the foreseeable future =[ xxx

hey hun, im on bed rest too and it's driving me a bit potty tbh. I get thro the day with the newspaper, tv / dvd, books, mags oh brings me home :) oh and of course the interent and bnb...... xxxx

I'm not "on bedrest," but I've been told to take it easy as much as possible. TBH, I was never much of a gamer, but now that I have nothing better to do, I find video games are a good way to pass the time.

And you should see if your OH will pick you up one of those bed table trays so you can do your glass painting while on bedrest. I have one that's a pretty nice size, and I use it for painting when I'm being lazy and don't want to get up. haha

EDIT:: Also, those cute paint-it-yourself stained glass things (you can hang them in your window and what not) are really good to pass time. They're also very cheap, which makes them more fun! haha

hiyaa =] OH has ordered me a bunch of the video games off the internet so I'm waiting for them to arrive, at the moment its not too bad as OH is at home aswell, but he starts a new job on monday (yay!!) I'll see if i can get some kind of bed table thing, yesterday I ended up playing final fantasy 12 on the DS and that kept me busy for a while, but was getting quite auqard in the way I was sitting! Thanks girls, hope you guys don't have to stay resting for too long! xxx

i am on bed rest, i stay sane with a nintendo ds, the daily papers, the internet, i am going to start crochet, and knitting, and i give myself little milestones, like 8 days time is my 24 weeks milestone.........i also read read and read lol, is horrible not being able to do anything, makes me feel kinda not like the woman i was if that makes sense xx

Hi there,

Firstly I'm really sorry that you have been told you have a risk of pre-term labour. Its good that you are are on bedrest, but I can only go some way to understanding how boring it must be.

I'm not on bedrest, but due to PROM and weak cervix, I am resting as much as possible. I get home from work and just lay on the couch. I'm hoping that full bed rest does not become a necessity but something I may have to face. I can only imagine how bored you girls must get.

I too have thought of similar ways to pass the time:-
Had a couple of new games for my Nintendo DS
Reading Books
Sky + and films
Taken up knitting and just waiting for my new crochet magazine to arrive (going to knit a patchwork blanket and maybe a scarf).
Internets shopping (going to go and look for some long sleeve maternity tops in a minute - to keep me warm with all the snow).

xxx

I've started making a scrap book of my pregnancy and to last till he's quite old today, its taking up lots of time which is really good =] xxx
