What do you think of the name Kenji for a girl?

I've never met or known a Kenji male or female but I know the name is typically used for males.

I like it because it's unique but not crazy .... people would be able to pronounce it and probably spell it without much difficulty.

Just looking for some feedback good or bad :)

Not a fan, sorry. I haven't heard it before but when I read it I did think it sounded male; however I don't think there is anything wrong with using names which are normally for the other gender.

its weird... not only masculine but sounds like a nickname (like Benji being short for Benjamin)

Ive heard of (although never met in person) girls called Kenya which is unique and easy to spell/pronounce

I think of a Japanese boy name, not a girls name... although I guess I could see it as a girls nickname but not sure what a full name for that would be.

I'm not keen on it, not sure why. Sounds kind of like Benji so it is masculine sounding to me

It's adorable, but it's such a common Japanese (male) name that I think many people will have a strong masculine association with the name.

I'm so sorry to be so blunt, but to be totally honest my first thought was that it sounds like a dog's name.

I don't like it. I agree it sounds like dogs name and It leaves me with a very distinct impression of belonging to a male.

I think it's cute - but better suited for a boy or a male pet. (Perhaps bc Ken and Benji are male names.)

It sounds like a name you've made up. I'm not saying you have, that's just what I thought when I first read it. X

Thanks for all the feedback!

I still love it even after reading all that :)

Kenji is 100% a Japanese boys name. Its never used on a girl. Depending on the kanji letters it can mean different things.
賢二, "wise, second"
健二, "healthy, second"
健次, "healthy, next"
謙二, "modest, second"
研二, "research, second"
憲次, "constitution, next"
健司, "healthy, rule"
健治, "healthy, govern"
賢治, "wise, govern"
健児, "healthy, child"

So in my opinion its pretty appropriate your using for your second child. Although I personally wouldn't name my daughter a boys name. That being said even in English language lots of names are unisex which are more suited for males or females. Jack and Charlie (although Charlie is normally sort for Charlotte).

I am all for unique names though. I've named my son Ossian and it suits him. For my daughter I went for the Japanese/English route of Erika. Next one no idea what name we'll give it.
