Before I had my son my boobs were at a C cup. The day after he was born they shot up to a DD. Now, A week later they are back down to a C cup.

What happened??

For the first few days after delivery they were HUGE and heavy and sore. Now they aren't as heavy, and not sore what so ever.

I've been pumping my milk because my son is in NICU. No, I haven't been doing it every 3 hours like I was told to....But I have been doing it atleast 5 times a day and getting plenty! Now when I pump I'm lucky if I get enough for his feeding of 39mL out of each boob.

Am I still going to be able to breastfeed?? I'm going to start pumping religiously in hopes to produce more...but I'm kinda worried that since I didn't pump too much in the beginning that my breast milk is uh....going away? Does that happen??

The reason you were so big a few days after birth is because it all came in at once so you were engorged, now your body is just producing what you need according to when and how much you've been pumping. I would def try to do it every 3hrs though because when he comes home he's most likely going to want to eat about every 3hrs so hat way your body is prepared and will have enough for him

Mommyof3 is right - you're not engorged now and that's totally normal! My boobs NEVER feel full these days. As time goes by and your milk is established (about 6 weeks ish) you'll probably find they dont feel very different....unless you join the wonky boob club with Clairebear and co!

Pumping will get better the more you do it. The pump is a poor substitute for your baby's suck. When you pump are you near Maxson?? Can you see him?? If not take a picture and look at it and think of him while you pump. It may sound crazy but it will work!

You're doing great under the circumstances honey! IT's a stressful time for you and that can affect your milk so well done you!!! Keep up the good work. :hugs:

I wish I could see him or be near him while pumping but can't right now cause he's in the NICU. I have noticed though that when I do see him and I'm holding him my breasts start to throb a lot.

My OH mentioned the picture thing to me....I think I will try it out :)

Clever (.Y.) 's!!!! Definately try it - I get up before my baby to pump and when I first started I saw a MASSIVE difference when I looked at my favourite picture of her....get one that makes you go all..:cloud9:...you'll see results :winkwink:
