Hi all,

Just wondering about the above- i plan on using my KIT days next year-by my understanding you get the normal daily wage in place of SMP.Does anyone know if it is therefore financially worth it to use the KIT days or is there very little difference the money?

Ta

Keeping in Touch days-your'e allowed 10 during maternity leave (to go to work and read emails/go to team meetings)

ah right sorry i was being too dim there, as self empolyed i dont really know abut the employment side :(

I'd guess it depends on how much your salary is. If you earn less than £123 a week as an employee then I'd suppose it would be better not to use them. If not I'd say you'd be better taking them.

But, if you are planning to take the full year then it is ten extra days of money given the last 3 months aren't covered by SMP.

I would say though, regardless of the money, it might be worth using them as it is a good idea to make sure your face is still remembered and also gives you an idea of what is going on in your absence. I do roughly one a month. This is especially useful as I have a new boss!

Keep in touch days are paid ON TOP of SMP. You do not lose SMP for the 10 days, they can be worked all in one go, or 10 seperate x
