Hi ladies I need advice. First of all, I am on here asking this because my husband isn't home for another hour, I have a toddler that I cannot leave, and it is going to take at least an hour for my MIL to get here to watch my daughter when we do end up going to the hospital. This is my second pregnancy, but I was induced with my first and given an epidural long before I should have (dr error that led to all sorts of nightmarish complications) So, anyway, I missed the feeling of the beginning stages of labor. I have been having BH mixed with what has to be true contractions for weeks. I am 39 weeks now. The contractions have always been worse at night when the baby is most active. I have had horrible pains for months with my pelvis popping out of place. Two nights ago, the baby's activity slowed down during the evening and I have had no pelvic popping getting out of bed, rolling over, etc, like I had before. My baby is still moving, just not as much.
Last evening a new sensation came about I suddenly felt like someone had a hand on both sides of my hips and was trying to push my straight down into the floor. I told my husband it was a new feeling and we need to get ready as I just had a feeling something was going to happen in the next few days. The pressure didn't come in waves, it was consistent. I took a hot shower, the pressure (I wouldn't call it painful so much as uncomfortable) eased a bit and I was able to go asleep around 1 AM. At 3, I awoke with a shot of pain that radiated from my lower back down my left leg to my toes. Then the lower back pain stayed for a couple hours---again, no waves, but I got up, drank some water, walked around....and the walking made it much worse. Sitting wasn't painful at all, laying was mildly painful...but the walking. It eased up around 6 am and I slept until my daughter got up at 8. I have been grumpy all day and the lower back pain has been there all day, but it is tolerable so long as I don't walk around. I called my husband at work (he is a teacher) and told him to get a sub for tomorrow b/c I need him home to help me if I feel tomorrow like I did today. He said he would stay after work today to get things ready for the sub...I just called him a few minutes ago and when I found out he hadn't left work yet I just started bawling. I feel horrible and need him home...I didn't expect to start crying. Anyway...is this horrible back pain labor? There haven't been pains radiating to my abdomen...it tightens at times while this pain is occurring, but unless I am actually feeling my belly I haven't been aware of it. I would have called the dr by now but have to way of getting there until my husband gets home and it is quite a drive for MIL to get here for us to go to the hospital only to be sent home. I feel so clueless right now---I feel horrible but want to get last minute things prepared here just in case we end up in the hospital this evening, but I just can't make myself move too much without the pain getting ridiculous.
I am without a car until my husband gets home, so I can't get to the hospital right now. At 37 weeks I had not progressed....at 38 weeks my appt had to be canceled due to a snow storm. I am 39 weeks tomorrow and have an appt in the afternoon so long as I can make it until then.
