Does anyone have any experience with a hospital grade pump? I've been reading online and have read that moms looking to increase their supply and not just maintain it need a hospital grade pump. I have been pumping and pumping for three weeks and am LUCKY to get a full ounce, I usually get 1/2 -3/4 oz after 20 minutes with a double electric medela.

Just wondering if anyone has been able to increase their supply with a hospital grade pump?

No advice but hopefully one of the BF mummies will be able to answer your question :)

Sorry I just have a Medela swing pump. I have to pump first thing in the morning or all I get is little drops and its so frustrating. I also find that feeding James on one side and expressing at the same time on the other side helps. Bit of a challenge tho !! i normlly get about 3 ounzes in half an hour if I do it 1st thing or about 1/2 0z if i do ot later in the day

I have a medela advanced and it takes me nursing every two hours all day to make two 3 oz bottles. Almost doesn't feel worth the effort. I read online that regular pumps will only maintain your supply not boost it (which is what I need.)

Some women can build or maintain a supply on a 'normal' pump, others need a hospital grade like the Lactina or Symphony.

I didn't find any great difference when switching from my single electric to a hospital grade double. It did cut the time though, and as I was expressing exclusively, it was worth it for that reason.

1/2 to 1 oz is a normal output for a Mum who is nursing exclusively.

Can I ask why you need to boost your supply?

Well if my son eats 3 oz every 3 hours and every 2 hours I am only producing 1/2 oz that means I can only make him enough for two feedings every day. That is a lot of pumping and being away from my family for 6 oz in an entire day.

Are you pumping while at work? Exclusively pumping?

Pumping at work. I try to nurse when I am at home but he doesn't latch on very well and I'm finishing up college this month and have a crazy 3 1/2 yr old and worn out husband when I get home haha.
