Has anyone tried lactose free formula to help with their colicky reflux baby?

Hi hun, AF formula is runny, with reflux they need a thicker formula. LF formula eases the pain as it's easier to digest but it might not work for throwing up xx

Thanks, he's got silent reflux, i have tried him on the AR formula and didn't make a difference and just constipated him. He handles the consistency of the normal formula ok, e.g not spilling and not trying to swallow it back down when he is lying flat. He just screams a lot after feeds so thought maybe i should try lactose free formula. I brought a tin yesterday so am really hoping it works as i am very against putting him on soy which is the next step according to my doctor.

It eases the pain, I guess it works well for silent reflux as it's easy to digest. We tried it with a thickener at 1st & it worked well. Then we switched to the AR formula.

Oh ok i might try it with a thickener or gaviscon if he continues to be upset after a week on it

My LO has reflux and is also lactose intolerant. His vomitting has decreased quite a bit since we changed to a lactose-free formula. The Zantac helped his pain from the reflux but he was still vomitting a couple times a day - now he only vomits once every day or two.

Hope you find your solution for your LO!

My LO has acid reflux and is also lactose intolerant, the doc has prescribed us 2 different lac free milk but lo wont drink them as they taste vile!!! (i tried them myself) so we have him on normal formula with infant gaviscon at mo but just wondered if u knew if there was a nicer tasting lac free milk???? xxxxxxxxxxx

Sorry for barging in lol

Thanks for any advice xxxxxxxxxx

Did you try Aptamil LF? We use it from time to time when DS has loose poo & he doesnt seem to notice any difference. xx

I don't mind you asking a question here. I tasted the one we have but it is a New Zealand brand and doesn't taste too bad but it isn't as sweet as some formula's. My LO didn't drink much of the first bottle but he is fine on it now that he is used to it

He seems happier and even slept through the night for the first time last night!

ahh wow well done LO xxx

I think im just gonna have to go back to my pedi and ask for a ''Normal'' tasting milk lol xxxxxxxxx
