Has anyone any experience of Nutramigen formula?
My baby reacted badly to Aptamil after being weaned from breastfeeding - he was having bad diarreah or constipation, bad eczema, a rash over his face and body etc etc and was generally miserable.
A doctor finally said it was perhaps a cows milk intolerance and has recommended Nutramigen.
We've bought a couple of tins but it's SO expensive!
I also don't like the idea of my baby not being able to have cow's milk in the future!!!

Do any of you ladies have experience of this? If so, did the nutramigen work? Did the baby grow out of it ? And can you get nutramigen on prescription!?

Thanks in advance...!

Yeah Ollie is on Nutramigen. You can get it on prescription. Ollie went on it in Feb and after a hellish 2 weeks of him refusing it and having only 10oz a day he finally accepted and loves it now. I've found he's a far more settled baby and his constant cough and cold symptoms have disappeared. Overall I'm impressed with how he is now on this new milk but his excema hasn't cleared up, that's the only thing. When he's 1 the consultant is going to let me introduce cows milk into his diet to see how he goes. I'm hoping he'll grow out of it soon x

Landon had the same problems but we tried just lactose free before going to nutramigen and that was enough for him and it worked great, he was on that about 6mo then was able to move back to regular cow's milk based and has been fine on cow's milk since. He does still have eczema though

Hi, tried nutramagin with my second because of diahorrea. She point blank refused it and had to stick with sma. She eventually got over the diahorrea. You can get it on prescription.
My baby son has excema and bad tummy sometimes but hes been on aptimil for a while so I think its probably something else causing his. Hope you get problem resolved! xx

Annabelle is being treated as lactose intolerant, we are on the sma LF which works wonders for us, we tried weaning her back but it wasnt successful so we on the sma for a little longer

It is supposed to be good... like you said its very expensive. However, just because he is lactose intolerant now, doesnt mean he will be when he gets older. Its common for babies to seem like that are and then outgrow it by 1 or 2 years.

Max was on it for a about 2 months then we slowly introduced cows milk and he is fine now ..he may or may not grow out of it

where can you buy nutramingen milk girls?

archie was put on wysoy for lactose intolerance and is doing fab on it
im going to try and reintroduce cows milk again at about 6 months hopefully he will have grown out of his intolerance by then

my baby is currently on nutramigen after being diagnosed with lactose intolerance he was arching his back, screaming, had bad colic allday, didnt feed until colief drops were used and was taking around 12 oz a day and then became increasingly fussy refusing the bottle and having an aversion to it. hes still fussy with the bottle but hes not in pain anymore and is going number 2 more regularly now. we still have to use a dummy to get the bottle in his mouth but he does great
