So I know there are several TTC Plus Size threads on here but I really would like to here from bigger ladies like me, I am a size 26/28. I have always been bigger and my weight never bothered me until I started TTC. So I am ready to move onto clomid but my dr. is hesitant to prescribe. I just want to hear from other ladies in my size range, I am starting to get really done on myself and I hate it! I never worried about my weight I am who I am and that's that. But today I found out another couple is excepting and it really hurts.

I am also around that size and I see myself thinking it may be a big factor in this.
I've always been happy with who I am and how I look and since trying I see myself thinking everything is broken with me when It comes to TTC...
Is the doc not wanting to prescribe because of your weight being an issue?

I am currently on my second day of clomid, first cycle on it. My doc didn't say my weight played any kind of negative impact with TTC but she has me trying to lose weight because of being boarder line diabetic. That's the only real concern she had towards the whole thing.

I am 23 and around the size you mentioned my husband is 24 and skinny as all heck.
We've been trying for about a year and half. Half that time just not preventing but now it's in full effect of TRYING.

My doc jumped on putting me on clomid after doing blood work. She said everything was fine except the boarder line thing and that my progesterone was a little low.

Hearing of close friends or ppl I know coming up pregnant..kills me inside.

Hello! Thank you for responding!!! Yes my Dr. doesn't want to prescribe due to weight and that is killing me. I am active healthy and feel completely able to have a child. I do have PCOS and I am on Metformin after getting bumped up to 1000mg I did get one natural AF. I called my Dr. today to see if he will bump up my Metformin more and talk about clomid.

My husband is husky and I am def. bigger but weight has never been an issue with us, but since TTC it is like an elephant in the room mostly due to the doctors attitude. Maybe I need to find a different dr, I feel this one is a little prejudice towards heavy people. My weight has nothing to do with my ability to be a Mom.

Thank you so much for replying and best of luck with clomid!!!

Hey ladies, I am size 24 and my Dr said nothing about losing weight when we first went to see him. Unfortunately we have yet to see a fertility specialist so no clom experiences, but I often wonder if the weight is the issue.

Wish you both lots of luck.

Hi Myshelsong,

Thank you, I think I need to look for a different doctor who is a little more supportive.

Yes weight may make conceiving harder but the real goal of this whole TTC journey is to have a child and size doesn't matter about being a Mom.

I wish you the best of luck!

Blessings,

I didn't want to read and run. I am a size 24 also, sometimes size 26. I don't have pcos but am on metformin 1000mg/day. Started out 500mg/day from 4/22/14 to 5/8/14 and on 4/23/14 started spotting for 7 days. On 5/9/14 upped to 1000mg/day. Started provera on 6/1/14 for 10 days and on the 10th day AF came. Has never started while still taking the pills so that was weird. But it lasted 7 days, heavy, clotty and crampy. Cramping never happened before either. I did some math and I am not sure if it was from the metformin or the provera. Either way I had a period. I was supposed to go back for clomid but am having issues with my insurance so we haven't been back yet. But my ob never had an issue with my weight. She was very supportive of it all. I am also on levothyroxine for hypothyroidism. Sorry for the long post. Good luck to us all!!!!!!!!

Hi Cyrstalnjimmy,

Thank you for coming on and sharing your story, that gives me confidence to reach out to a new doctor!!

Maybe AF was a combination of Provera and Metformin but it sounds like a good cleansing one! That is what I am hoping for in about 14 days as I start my Provera tomorrow!

Just something I have read here and been told by two doctors, Clomid is available for cheap at Target, Wal-Mart and other places. Just need to do some legwork calling around for prices, my ins. won't cover it and my doctor told me it was affordable to buy without ins. Not sure on exact amount by I think I have seen other ladies post on here once cycles worth around $20-$30.

Best of luck!!!

I have never heard of clomid being available at Walmart. If it is I may need you to but it for me and ship it to Canada!

Sorry I think this might help clarify last post it is available at those place with a RX.

Yea you still need a script but Walmart carries it and when I checked my insurance it was on the $4 list =)

Lol, that is what I had thought you cannot go and purchase clomid without a prescription.

sigh no you cannot. But in India you can  I PM a lady on here about it. But I am hesitant to do it....

Hi ByHisGrace08:wave:

I'm not overweight myself (although am a bit plump) but I looked this up and it seems there are risks involved being overweight and pregnant:wacko: I've read about gestational diabetes and how being overweight is risky for both mother and baby (or babies if you get pregnant with eg. twins).

Maybe you could try asking your doctor why he won't give you clomid and what risks are involved if you did get put on clomid. Because this may be the reason and not because he feels overweight people are bad parents. Maybe ask him what BMI you need to be at before he'll agree to give you clomid.

This is just a friendly suggestion:)
