Max has been on Aptimal since 6 weeks and has recently been diagnosed with Silent Reflux. The problem I am having is with the SR taking Gaviscon in the bottles makes it really thick, Max doesn't want to take his bottle with anything other than slow teats as it then just comes out too quickly and I think it bothers his reflux.

Am I right in thinking that Hipp Organic is thinner in consistency? I'm thinking it might be better for him with the Gaviscon. I have no other problems with Aptimal but he is falling asleep on his bottles as it is too much effort for him on the slower teats and is hysterical if I change to variflow or medium flow.

What do you think? Worth a try?

My LO has silent reflux, on gaviscon and various other medications. I found gaviscon works best with the hipp organic milk. Hardly any problems at all :)

yeh hipp organic is think iove only seen sma and cow and gate but its loads thinner than that x

I use Hipp with Gaviscon (regular spewy reflux ;)). It is a much better consistency than Aptamil (and it smells better!)

I changed from Aptamil to Hipp and have found LO is much more settled. It does seem different in its consistency, slightly thinner and more creamy.. however I have noticed that the newer packets (the ones with the blue scoop) are slightly different again and the powder does seem thicker though I don't think the milk is any thicker once made up.

HTH

I don't use hipp organic but i do use an organic formula called Bellamy's (i live in NZ). It is a godsend and the only thing that has settled LO's silent reflux. I highly recommend getting an organic formula over a regular formula from my experience. I literally tried every formula including lactose free, AR etc. If you compare the ingrediets on the tin of an organic formula and a regular formula you can see there is a lot less crap added to irritate LO's digestive system.

we used a reflux formula and when LO turned 6mths I slowly started switching her to HIPP follow on.
it is very runny compared to the 'normal' formulas but she can manage it ok.
we still managed to get sma staydown through a level 2 avent and dr browns though, no experience with gaviscon as we didn't treat with meds x

Have you found though that the one with the blue scoop mixes much better?

Thanks girls, I'm running out of ideas now so I think I'll give it a try.

Why do these monkeys change the goalposts all the time.. :(

I think so, so far anyway, I found sometimes the one with the white scoop left little lumps if not shaken well whereas the blue scoop one dissolves much easier

Thanks girls, well day 1 on Hipp today need to get used to using a knife to level it out. Dam Aptimal making things too easy!

I've put it all in a sterilised clean lunch box as I was finding I was losing it everywhere from the bag, does anyone else do this? I'm guessing it's fine. The consistency is quite damp isn't it? Does it come through powder dispensers ok? Oh well, I'll find out at 11.30!! Ha!

M had his first feed at 7.30am and took 4ozs which is normal for his breakfast feed, he took it fine and seemed ok and it only had 1 sachet of Gaviscon and he didn't seem to be in any pain, he does have his milk almost at room temp as I think if it is slightly warm it hurts his Silent Reflux.

I'll let you know how he gets on. :)

Ive moved Ollie from Aptamil comfort to Hipp and he seemed ok but now he got the wind yet again, it seems i cant win with any milk I do, on the APtamil he seems hungry all the time on the Hipp he seems ok but windy arghhhhhhhhh !!

Have you tried putting some Gripe Water in his bottles, that used to help Max a treat but he doesn't need it with the Gaviscon as it pretty much does the same job. :)

Glad there are so many positive stories with Hipp.
