Lakai update..=)

So sorry I haven't been on more ladies, Ive missed you all very much. Especially reading about our babies. But my laptop is still being fixed and Ive had fricking pneumonia! Awesome hey? At least I do not need my second surgery!

Lakai is doing awesome! He is now 12 months corrected, not walking yet...but almost there he is cruising and took two unaided steps yesterday from the rocker to his jumparoo!

But best of all?! He is TALKING! He has said "mama" and "dada" in context!! And "baba" which is what we call him. Plus sooo many other sounds, which if you remember at his 8 month Neonatal Follow Up appointment he assessed at 6 months in expressive language. Well his speech therapist was here last week and he is now assessing at 12-15 months corrected in all his language even expressive!!! WOOOHOOO! With most of his skills at around 13-14 months!!!!

Such a huge leap for a little dude with a paralyzed vocal cord! Also we aren't suppose too...but I tried him a on half pumped breast and before he use to cough and gag, he did just fine. We wont do it again until April 12th when he has his next feeding study, but I think we are going to have huge improvements with his swallowing too!

Hi,

I hope this is not inappropriate to say. I have read a couple of your posts and think that you and little Lakai are truly inspirational. The strength and courage you have both shown.

I gave birth to a little girl, unfortunately born sleeping at 24+2 weeks (although my waters broke at 23+3 weeks, so she was more like a 23 weeker).

While in the hospital I searched for positive stories to hold on to some hope. Your story is truly inspirational and I'm sure it will help others out there.

I'm currently 25 weeks (almost 26 weeks) with my 2nd baby and stories like yours give me hope that if I was to give birth early, there is hope.

Im so sorry about your loss. But also congrats on your new bean! Sending lots of sticky vibes your way, I hope you have a long nine month pregnancy!!

PS I searched the internet endlessly for positive outcomes for the types of things Lakai faced, and came up EXTREMELY short. I found 2 or 3 ok outcomes, but like 1 or 2 really positive outcomes. Thats my main reason for posting so much about him. Plus I like to talk about him..lots. LOL
