Can anyone give me the low down?

- do you have it at a set time in your cycle
-do you need a general anaesthic?
- How long are you sore after?
-How long were you off work?
- do they put a camera down the tube or just dye ( sorry if thats a silly question?)
So many questions!

Hope someone can help hun both my lap and dye's were dont when I was having ectopic surgeries so I am not really sure how it goes without that.

I wish they had done mine then! Its all so drawn out! XX

Hi Crypto
I think can be done anywhere in ur cycle , u r put to sleep, camera goes in thru ur navel and a 1cm cut in bikini line for something to manovere inside with genarally the take pics of what they find. The dye goes up u and they watch it pass through ur tubes. You will need at least a week off work I'd say as you will be a bit sore and the gas they use can cause shoulder pain. Good luck with it hth.

Thanks Oneday for that. I really cant wait! Sad I know but I want to know the other tube is clear!! X

Hi Cypto!

I can only tell you about mine, but know that every woman is different. I had mine on cd 6, but you can have it at anytime. I was put to sleep and they put a camera through my belly button and put a prob up my cervix and into the uterus. They put the blue dye in my right tube, it was fully blocked. Then they did the left tube. It filled all the way up to the top and was blocked near the ovary. BUT I had an awesome doctor and he put a ton of pressure on the tube and it burst open. :)

So I was told to stay out of work for at least 3 days to a week. I had some minor bleeding and cramping and the shoulder pain but was good to go about 9 days later. My doc said that we shouldn't waste the cycle because the knew my tube was open and to act before it closed up again if at all. So we did. Sorry, looks like I wrote a book! :)

It really wasn't that bad at all. And gave me the knowledge I needed! I hope this helps you! FX for you hun!

I think the recovery for any lap is pretty much the same I took a few days off. So should be similar to when u had your tube removed. My dr only did it because if the good one was blocked she was gonna take it along with the ectopic at the same time. Trust me I am sure she would have rather done it in two surgeries so she could make more money off me and my insurance. I am sure that is why she didnt do anything with my endo or the fibriod i have in my uterus. Good luck hunni when is your surgery?

Less than a week for recovery..it was smooth. I never knew that I had any surgery. Just take ur vicodin and rest. I also had the dye. It didn't go successful cuz my tubes were closed, so he took a ballon like thing, blew em up and so now they are both open. So I hope all goes well tho!

I've never had the dye, but have had 2 laps. First when I was 24 and I crashed shortly after getting home and then was out trick-or-treating with a friend's kid the next day. I took a total of 3 work days of plus had the weekend, so 5 days total. The last was when I was 30 and I took a couple days off and tried to go back to work, but ended up leaving early and taking extra days. It took a lot longer to recover. The first time my doc wanted it at a certain time in my cycle and there were 3 small incisions. The second time was with a different doc and he said it didn't matter where in the cycle I was and there were 2 small incisions. Mine were for both for endo. First time it was removed. The second time I was clear. I later had a HSG which was horrible. I would have preferred to be knocked out except that I could see the dye spill out the tubes so I knew they were open that day. Good luck and hope everything goes well for you.

Thanks so much ladies, they now may be doing a HSG, I need to wait and see. I dont think it will be until after the new year. Your experiences have all be extremely helpful, and encouraging! X
