Hello,
Was hoping that some of you lovely ladies will be able to tell me abit about the lap and dye procedure.

My doctor has referred me to see a gynecologist after having my 4th mc a week ago. At the moment im on three hospitals waiting list.

My doctor mentioned that they will do blood tests and something called a lap and dye.

Just wondering what will they do? How they do it? And anything else that you can tell me.

Also if you dont mind telling, what bloods do they do?

Anything would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I presume they will do all the normal blood tests, FSH, LH, progesterone, thyroid, blood count, diabetes, liver function everything. Thats what they did for me. The lap and dye, hmmmmmmmmmm is that a HSG where they filly you with blue dywe then xray, thast what i am having anyway?

i did the HSG test and they inject ink to see about you tubs if they are blocked or not you are not put to sleep for that ...i believe the Lap and dye you will be under anesthesia as they go really inside to check everything..

Arhhh ic so there is a difference, i thought they might be the same thing.

Hey there,
I'm so sorry you've had so many losses :hugs:.
I had a lap/dye and d&c this fall and what they do is look around for any problems such as endo, polyps, cysts, etc. They'll do the HSG at the same time to make sure tubes are clear and I don't know if they'll do a d7c as well, but, I had that done and they ended up finding endometrial polyps which could prevent an embryo from implanting.
Good luck with your surgery and I hope you can get some answers..

With the lap, you're under a general anaesthetic. They will want to be having a good look at your uterus to see if there is a reason for your miscarriages. Most common reason for this is a septate uterus. If they can fix anything while they're in there, they will. They will do the dye test at the same time, this will show them if there are any tubal blockages or any other problems. They will also do a D&C to give you a clean out. The lap is done by 1-4 very small incisions. 1 in the belly button and sometimes the top area of your pubic region and the sides of your belly. They stick a small camera down the incisions to get good images and to see if they can find anything.

The bloods tests i'd assume would be checking for chromosome defects as well as a regular hormone check.

Have they done a SA on your DH to see if he has a chromosome prob with the boys?

Best of luck to you :hugs:

Thank you everyone for your replies. At the moment they havent done anything. Im waiting for an appointment with the gynecologist. The doctor mentioned about the lap and dye so thats why i wanted to find out.

Thank you again and goodluck to you guys
xx
