Lap & Dye & stressing!

Hi hun, i can understand your nervousness. I'm a complete wimp, and had my lap and dye a couple of months ago. Very much like the other ladies have posted, it's really not that bad.

My main tip though, ask for 'magicream'!!! lol!!!! Not sure if you've heard of it, but it's a small tube of cream (bit like savlon) that numbs the back of your hands where they 'll put the needle in. I swear by it!!!! I can handle blood tests, but that's about it! I went in for my first op 10 years ago and they too had written in my records i was a nervous patient. The lovely nurse brought out this cream and it worked a treat. I think it's mainly for kids, but hey, we all have a childlike streak at times!!!! SInce then, i have asked for it ( don't wait for them to offer it!) every op i've had and the nurses / anaesthetists have been lovely!!! You do need to ask for it pretty much as soon as you're there as it needs time to work.

Big hugs and good luck for your op x

Hello

Just to reiterate what everyone else has said that it'll be fine! I had never had an aneasthetic and it was fine. I was in pain when I came around, quite bad period cramps but I think that was because they found and cleared up some endo at the same time. They gave me morphine and I was floating home!!! After the cramps and trapped air has gone, the only problem for me was the soreness where they make the incisions. The scars are tiny and I quite enjoyed the aneasthetic in the end!

Good luck!

Millnsy x

Ooooh...that stuff is great! I had it to numb the back of my hand before a general anaesthetic when I was 12! Didn't realise I could have asked for it for the rest of them  They put it on with a big plaster over the top and leave it to work :D x

Hi butterflies - I really know how you feel - I've got my lap and dye test next tuesday, I've had a lap before over 5 years ago but it seems so long ago I've forgotton what it was like.

I feeling soooo nervous - I know it will be over very quickly and I'm more worried about what they might find - but as othes have said we need to get through this stage to get onto the next.

I hope your Lap and dye test goes well for you xx :hugs:
