we have been ttc for almost 3years now tried clomid and other things but only got pregnant once which turned out to be ectopic sadly, really broke my heart, since then we had been put on waiting list and was advised i might get a HSG but our RE changed her mind and is now sending us for a Laparscopy and dye op without being sure there is even a problem or blockage there, i am really really really scared, i haven't had an op since i was 11 and that was on my tonsils, one girls said that they might end up removing a tube? i am really worried, our doctor also told us it was very risky thing.... i have my pre-op on 26th of this month so thinking i might talk to the consultant who will be dealing with the operation and see what he/she thinks? my operation date has be set for 30th jun, my luck my own mum and my MIL are both away on holiday then, so i have no idea who i am going to get to help out.

would love some support and advice or personal stories...

please guys really need some help or answers here :(

I'm set the have the lap very soon and my Dr. assured me it is nothing to worry about. He said the worst part is usually a sore shoulder from the Co2 they pump into you. I also have friends who've had it and it isn't that bad. There are a few tiny incisions that heal pretty quickly. They will only remove a tube in extreme cases if there's an infection that can't be treated or something abnormally wrong with it. I also believe you need to give them permission to do anything extreme like that. They are mainly looking for polyps, fibroids, and endo, which they will remove if necessary. Please try not to worry about it. Good luck. :hugs:

hey whats the lap for? Have u had any blood tests to show whether u ovulate or not? coz if its polyps, blood tests confirm that. I hope u get explained everythin beforehand because they cant just open you.

getting the laparscopy and dye due suffering an ectopic in feb after being dignosed with pcos and being on 6months of clomid.

You're probably being referred for lap to check for endo and possible scar tissue after ectopic. I had my lap/dye done 8 days ago. I too have PCOS and my body turned out to be resistant to clomid-had no effect on my follicles whatsoever. I am starting injectables and my FS wanted to check all ok in there before that.
Anyway, the op is HONESTLY nothing to worry about. I was in and out within 5 hrs. I won't lie and say it was painless because I was uncomfortable for a few days after but really just like period pains. I had endo removed via D&C during it. I did have a bit of neck pain from the gas and was bloated(still am a bit!) Had it done on Monday and was feeling almost back to normal by weekend(just get tired but nothing serious).
Hope this helps...any questions just ask:winkwink:

hi please dont be scared .....i had a lap & dye on 3rd feb 2010 as i had my suspicions i had endo. i luckily didnt however but the flushing of the tube must of helped as i conceived twins & got my BFP on the 20th feb!! i was scared to have the op done but it really wasnt that bad, the worse bit was the excess gas in my shoulder which caused pain but only lasted a day....good luck & i really hope u get a bfp soon xx

I too have PCOS, we've been TTC for 16 months now with no luck. I rarely ovulate, 2-3 times a year.

I have just been given my date for my lap & dye, 23rd June. I was worried at first but when I went for my pre-op, the nurse really reassured me.

My doc said they will try and use a heat treatment on my ovaries to shock them into working, try and scrape some cysts off and also perform a dye test to check for blockages in my tubes. Whilst also looking for any other problems..

Honestly, both my doctor and the pre-op nurse said it is a very standard procedure and that they do lots of these ops every day. Please try not to worry, I know that's easier said than done!

think i might need to cancel my op anyways as i have terrible flu :(

I had one done a few years ago and it was fine. Its the shoulder pain thats the worst bit afterwards. Lots of paracetamol and peppermint tea will help.

paracetimol doesn't work on me on a day to day basis i am already on heavy painkillers they said just to take the painkillers i am already on and if they don't take the edge off of it i was to call them etc, but because i have a almost 3year old son they said to make sure he is cared for else were so i don't over do it etc....

but as i said before i am suffering terribly with horrible flu so might need to have the surgery cancelled anyways.

then lots of peppermint tea. Its just something you have to ride out. I found it an annoying niggling pain, took about 3 days to go - lots of farting helped :haha: tmi! So plenty of Brussel sprouts! lol

You'll be fine - its amazing how small a surgery it is really. I'd say labour is definatly a lot lot worse lol

labour was nothing to me was in labour 13days and no pain relief

then it'l be a walk in the park! lol don't fret about it!

was just worried because our RE said there is risk of death, damage to bowl bladder stomach and even cause complete infertility. so kinda scared me but like said i have flu atm so doubt i'll be able to get the surgery

They have to say all the risks - its highly unlikely they actually happen. Its the same kind of risks of dying during childbirth - infact i think childbirth is a higher risk than a lap and dye. just be warned - depening on how they put the dye in - you could have a funny coloured foofy for a while lol

funny coloured what? i just worry as its sooo unnatural to be cut open lol... sorry i was also a medical student untill recently so know way to much for my own good also.

lady garden lol. I was purple down there when I finally looked after I got home haaha
