Latch help!

Hi

So my lb is 6 days old, my milk is in and seems plentiful, my right boob he feeds like a dream, but my left is really sore when he feeds and he never seems to feed for very long.

When the midwife visits, he latches perfectly, but the rest of the time, we struggle to get it right! We've tried various positions and the rugby ball position seems to be the best..... How can I ensure he latches correctly every time? My nipple feels like its going to drop off and set on fire!!!

have you heard of the breast crawl? baby has to move itself to get to the breast, what has worked fo me is layin down, put him on my chest and let him find the boob, he got a good latch the first time he tried it.
