LO has been having problems feeding lately, with one of his bottles (Playtex Ventair) he seems to eat too fast, and I think the flow is too fast because the hole is a bit too large. With his other bottles (Avent Newborn 4oz) he latches on and sucks on them so hard he collapses the nipple most of the time! I tried putting both the medium and fast flow nipples in them, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I don't think he is ready to go up a hole size because the playtex ones seem too much for him.

Anyone had this problem or have suggestions? He can't seem to get it quite right, he either eats too slow and gets frusterated and cries or too fast and chokes and spits half of it up :( He is doing a little better when I sit him straight up and take it away from him every half ounce, but it sends him into a fit sometimes because he wants to continue eating but will choke. :dohh:

I am not familiar with the teats you are using (we use Nuk teats) but may be you need to experiment with a different brand of teat if changing the flow rate made no difference. My DD always got on well with Nuk but I know some babies didn't get on with them - I think it all depends on the shape of your baby's mouth, the strength of their suck and their swallow reflex. Sometimes the material the teat is made from also makes a difference - DD likes latex teats but not silicon. I guess I'm suggesting that you experiment and I hope you find something that is better suited for your son.
