Leaky...

I am 37 weeks today, and for the past month or so I've been leaking some fluid. Only a little, and it's been tested and found to not be my waters. But these leaks would only wet about a dime sized portion of my panties.

This morning I got up to pee, and when I sat back down on the couch I felt a GUSH of fluid. Felt like my period had started, so I knew it was from the vagina and not urine. I went back to the bathroom, and my panties had 2 large silver dollar sized wet spots on them. I called my Drs office, and they fit me in about 2 hours later to come get tested. The Dr couldn't see any fluid, the strip test came out negative, as did the microscope test. I was so disappointed. I've also been having contractions about 7 mins apart all day long, and am still at 1cm dilated.

My Dr says that it COULD be a small hole that the baby keeps plugging with his head or another part of the body, and that's why I was so dry. I still feel like I'm leaking some fluids, and am still contracting, but I have my 2 year old son at home and am afraid of going in to the hospital again just to be disappointed yet again.

Has anyone had this problem of their waters breaking but the baby plugging the hole? And can anyone tell me about how long after your water DOES break will labor progress? I haven't had bloody show, but I have been losing my mucus plug for 3 weeks now.

Hi there. I had occasional leaks of fluid from 34wks in my twin pregnancy, but it was never proven to be amniotic fluid. It was most likely a leak from the hind waters, which is replenished and doesn't usually amount to anything. My babies were eventually born at 38wks via a planned section and were showing no signs of being born til then.

From what you describe, it sounds like baby isn't far from coming now hun - you are showing all the signs, it could be any day. The water, plus contractions plus mucous plug are all positive signs - good luck xxx

i have had that sensation of leaking but been checked and they couldnt find a hole haveing said that then scanned and theres less than 34% aminotic fluids have now had 3 of the 6 steroid injections to strengthen his lungs as they think delivery will be sooner rather than later having my 4th injection at 20.00hrs tonight and been having low movements today normally by this time of the day he would of moved about 50 times and so far only 9 and been haiving irregular contractions, fx he stays put I am also on antibvitiotics to counter contractions and another scan and swab and blood tests on monday morning, the only way they will know if you have less aminotic fluid is if they scan you, so i would insist that they do this and dont fob you off, fx for you too, fortunately if yr baby comes now he/she should be fine, my baby is 29 weeks and due to growth scan is showing 31 weeks so slightly better but still very scary, looks like i will be hooked up to another machine tonight to check his ok as i have been every day this week due to the fluid loss xx

Dang, I'm sorry to hear you're having so much troubles with your little fella.

My contractions ended up stopping at around 5am after I had diarrhea 4 times.

I haven't been sleeping well the past 2 nights. And I took a nap with my son yesterday and today, and I'm so used to him waking up before me, but both days I could only sleep an hour and was up before he was. I wonder if sleeplessness is a sign that baby Jacob is right around the corner.

Oh, and not to mention the pregnancy dreams. I had a dream that I got up from my nap today, and my tummy was all squishy like it is for a few days/weeks after having the baby, and there was no baby in there anymore. I REALLY hope that's my body saying "Any day now!"
