hiya i am looking for some advice, i am considering becoming a sahm i only earn 200 a month working 10 hours a week, my husband earns a good wage. i think we will cope without my money but because we r used to it we spend it. I was wondering after bills, food shop etc how much do u have left over each month to save, spend on urself/babies, bdays xmas the usual stuff extra money gets spent on? hope u dont mind me asking

OH earns £1070 a month working average of 3-4 12hrs shifts a week as a security gaurd. He gets £2.40 working tax credits (so low because tax credits took his contract of £15k last year but he earned £16k before tax as he switched jobs in august.
I get £320 a month child tax credits (£60 per week) and child benefit (£20 a week) OH pay rent,car,£80 of bills, money to his older son, work food. I pay council tax £112, £70 bills, and anywere from £50-70 a month on food. We buy alot of rice/pasta,potatoes which are cheap and tinned tomatoes, value range foods, value range wipes/nappies. Im trying to save at least £50 a month til baby comes then when my tax credits go up il try to save about £200 a month. We need to finish decorating the house before baby comes so thats about £50 to spend.
I dont spend on myself as I think its a waste and I have enough make up/clothes (well stretchy clothes!) to last me. I also feel guilty spending on myself cos theres better things to spend it on imo :flower:
