anyhoo...
I just found that my sister is being blackmailed, of sorts, by some 50 year old fella in Nottingham.
She moved there in September for uni from N. Ireland and brought her car with her. Last month, she was turning right into a carpark and didn't see a cyclist coming towards her. She turned right into the carpark and he flew into her passenger door.
The police weren't called, but numbers were exchanged. He was swearing etc at her immediately, and demanded £40 to get something temporary replaced on the bike as he cycles everywhere. Now he is demanding another £200 to get the part replaced permanently.
Really they should've called the police, but my sister is 21 and isn't the smartest cookie. The older man should've known well enough to phone the police to get an incident report filled in.
Can anyone advise me on what she should do? Shes only a student. She has no job and no money, let alone £200 to pay out. Shes worried if she goes to the police/insurance company, it will affect my mum's no claims bonus, but I didn't think car insurance worked like that?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
