Well my first DD was born at 38+4 so going a little later (39+2) was new for me. Had been losing bits of plug for the previous couple of weeks and braxton hicks etc, but i didnt feel that she would be coming soon.
Woke up Monday at 6.30am as DH was going work and felt a slight cramp in my lower belly but just assumed i had pulled a muscle turning over but they kept coming between 4-7 mins apart.Text DH to give him a warning as my last labour had only been 7 hours got up and started cleaning frantically as DH been doing DIY and house was messy i packed DD1 bag. Phoned DH at 8am as he hadnt answered me said i would call him in half hour were now every 4 mins lasting 20-30 secs.Rang birth centre to give them a heads up they said that was fine ring back when they lasted a minute. Let MIL know that she could come collect DD1.
DD1 had been very clingy lately so had to let mil and fil etc settle with her first they stayed for around 45 mins and i was getting a bit antsy and disappearing with contractions i just wanted them gone which sounds awful so i could focus on my pain in peace. Annoyingly although getting stronger everytime i sat on my ball they spaced out to 5-7 mins apart so started pacing the landing and they came down to 4 again. They were making me feel quite uncomfy now breathing through them becoming difficult. got to the birth centre at 1pm told there was a small wait as they were waiting for the floor to dry in the birth room! contractions suddenly got to every 2 and half mins and i couldnt even pace through them. Got in and a midwife told me to try sitting on the ball but i said no they tend to go to 5 mins if i sitto which she said oh well it could be hours then!:growlmad:could of thrown the ball at her! then i felt the contractions get even stronger felt like my hips were being crushed i breathed through one but the next i screamed for some gas and air they were so intense. A lovely new midwife and student decided to check me i was 5-6cm and very stretchy the pool was nearly ready but the next contraction felt so strong and all of a sudden my waters went where i was laying from the exam. they led me to the pool and i could start to feel so much pressure! the water was bliss as myy hips were killing me but as i got settled i can only describe it as someone dropped a bowling ball on my cervix from a great height.:wacko:i had an uncontrollable urge to push with contractions it scared the hell out of me as i felt i couldnt stop, but the midwife had just left the room thinking i would be ages it was the student midwife who yelled i can see the head. They coached me through encouraging me to breath through the urge to push and let my body do it which it was. i felt the ring of fire but was no where near as bad as last time . Afew nudgy pushes after her head was born and she was out.The cord was wrapped round her next but the midwife untangled her and handed her straight to me.:cloud9: Active labour was 7 minutes!as soon as my waters went 2 contractions later i was ready to push!. We had a natural third stage which took about 30 mins i had gas and and air to help push it out felt a lot harder then when i had the injection before but i didnt mind. Baby was handed to daddy he was fantastic with me holding my gas and air and trying to calm me down when contractions got really uncomfy. Was examined and only had 2 small internal grazes. Baby was weighed then handed to me and she started feeding brilliantly. After a shower and a few cups of tea 3hours later we were all home.

I was so anxious this time about the pain compared to my first labour etc and in my opinion early labour was manageble but the second stage was a lot more intense for me this time as it was so quick it did feel more painful than my first. but even though i had the urge to push with my first it was nothing like the uncontrollable urge this time. I feel alot better quicker this time as well, last time i felt so shocked by it all i was almost in a daze for a week.
My labour was about the same as my first labour 7 hours from first contraction but i honestly did not mind as it gave me time to sort childcare and keep calm during early labour.

Congratulations on your new arrival! :hugs:
