I keep reading posts of how at some point each feed lasts about 20 minutes - ours are still lasting an hour or so - 25 minutes approx on one side, a wind, a bit of a break before she's ready for about 20 minutes on the other side. How old were your babies before they became a bit more efficient at feeding?

Aisling has also been pretty fussy over the last few days, she'll feed for 10 minutes, then come off and I'll wind her and put her back on. She then goes through a cycle of coming off and immediately rooting and crying to go back on again but coming back off straight away until I give up and take her off altogether. Of course she's hungry again very quickly! I'm refusing to give in and give her a bottle of EBM but she's wearing me down a little! Any suggestions would be great.

It varies how long babies take to get more efficient but even when they do their feeds will vary still - sometimes they will want a snack and other times a big dinner.

The fussing sounds like wind or frustrationa - totally normal hun :)

All sounds perfectly normal. 6 weeks is a typical time for a growth spurt too hun, she may seem constantly hungry for a few days but it soon passes. Growth spurts normally coincide with a new "trick" for onstance when baby learns to lift head, roll over, sit up, etc Alfies havin one at the mo so he's feeding often :dohh:

Alfie used to stay on the boob for about an hour too at 6 weeks til he was around 10 weeks i think and he gradually got faster at feeding, he can take a feed in 20 mins now, sometimes 10 if he wants a snack

Hannah feeds for hours and hours with no end in sight, most days, and has done since we came home. It does sound like wind but they do go through phases of fussiness too.

It will all work out in the end hun xxx

it took a while for feed times to lessen. sounds like you are heading into the depths of the 10 week growth spurt. You are doing so well :hugs:
