Hi

I had an erpc on 14th jan, I have received a letter today saying that they got the results from the lab and it shows the tissue sent was related to the pregnancy, however the lab has requested that they ensure that the blood test results which measure the hormone of pregnancy are normal.

It continues that if I have any queries then I can see the dr but as a precaution that these tests are normal that I have to attend the epau to have the blood test. It says that the tissue it self was normal, however in some cases they do check blood tests after a miscarriage.

What does this mean? Anyone else had this?

I started my period Saturday, so I would have thought my hcg is 0 but they didn't ask me that. So could there be something wrong with me?

Confused

so sorry for your loss do they mean to ensure your HCG level is normal? not really sure

I don't know? Surely they would have asked me in sooner? Or have at least asked if af had come then no need for bloods?

Very confusing, I am going in on Monday morning for them anyway

Hi Panda

It's a standard letter that they send you after you have had a miscarriage or procedure.
The tisssue from your miscarriage is always sent away for tests to check it's normal and i'm sure you had a blood test at the hospital to check your HCG levels. When i M/C i had blood on the night then blood tests two days later to make sure my HCG levels were dropping because sometimes after a miscarriage tissue can be left which makes the body think it's still preganant. My m/c was complete so my levels dropped quite quickly but i still had the letter in the post a couple of weeks later. My doctor just clarified its a standard letter.

Does that make sense?? Sorry for your loss xxx

i have never received a letter from either of Mc guess some trusts must do it differently

i never receieved any letter after my ercp. ive had no follow up at all. is there a number on the letter to contact or failing that called the epu and ask what it means

Sorry to hear you've had this extra stress. If they have said in the letter that the tissue they saw was normal then it must be must be normal, they're not allowed to lie.
I suspect they just couldn't be certain from the sample that everything had been removed so wanted to be absolutely certain.

Hi Eternal

You live in swansea and so do I :)

Had a complete miscarriage in Oct 2010 at Sigleton EPU. And received a letter because they sent the tissue i passed, away to be tested. Maybe they go on individual case  but i then had to go back to the unit on a saturday for more blood tests so they could check my HCG levels were dropping, they rang me then on Sunday to confirm that Levels had dropped and if i had any other pregnancy signs to go back for further tests.

xx

I am passing a lot of clots and my af is quite heavy and painful so I imagine if everything hadn't been removed it's coming out now (tmi lol)

Think it's just weird why they haven't written before it's 5 weeks this Friday.

3 welsh girls on one thread :) that's cool

mine was Jan 2011 and my baby was almost 12 weeks. they did an ercp and didnt say anything about samples etc. my GP is useless. i think they maybe dont for ercp here, but felt i should have had some sort of follow up. i was very much encouraged to start TTC as soon as i had stopped bleeding.

Now i'm definately thinking it's which ever doctor you see cos i was told to wait three cycles, i'm older so  i dunno perhaps thats the reason why, any way good luck with your TTC :flower:

really? crazy, i few doctors and nurses all told me to try staright away after id stopped bleeding and even gave me a leaflet saying that, maybe its because it was an ercp not a natural. how did you find singleton? i found then very cold, they did everything right and no complaints, but just didnt seem very caring, would say, sorry for your loss as more of an after thought then actually feeling it.

i ended up having my scan in carmarthan as they were the only ercp that would see me that day and said to come back when i was pregnant again becuase they are the only trust in the area that does early scans after just one loss. they were fantastic there.

where do you live? i live in pontardawe

Singleton wasn't one of my finest hours i'm afraid :( i didn't want them to touch me and had to be coaxed and they put me in a room with women who were waiting for other procedures and i just wanted to go home... :(

Just come back from the hospital. They tested the tissue after the erpc and my hospital couldn't rule out a partial molar pregnancy so they sent the tissue to charing cross in London apparently one of the two hospitals in the uk that specialise in molar pregnancies.

They came back and said (I think, the dr was hard to understand, and it was all too much for me to take in) that it's not a partial but they recommend that my hcg is monitored and if it's below 2 then defo not a partial however if they it still above 2 then it probably was a partial molar and I need more treatment

How damn confusing, I gotta ring tomorrow for results. Just so hope it's on zero and I don't have anything serious wrong with me :(. Losing a baby is bad enough then this :(

Let you know tomorrow what happens.

I'm sorry for your loss and that you're having these troubles on top of it all. Please keep us informed on what they say once you've had the results!

Hi Pandaspot

Sorry to hear about your loss :hugs:

I had a partial molar pregnancy in 2008, there is a thread in the groups section which I set up for post molar ladies:
https://www.babyandbump.com/general/422946-molar-partial-molar-pregnancy-support-group.html

Fingers crossed your results will come back okay, but I just wanted you to know that if you have any questions about molar / partial molar, you can pop over to our little group and we will all help as much as we can, or please feel free to PM me :hugs:
