God I don't know how to start! I had hyperemesis all the way through my pregnancy and had been hospitalised a few times so as you can imagine I was pretty fed up by the time I was full term. Charlie had been born at 37 + 6 so I was hoping Lewis would be early too. On the Monday we dtd in the hope that things would get going and sure enough on Tuesday night I woke up to 3 or 4 contractions. Of course I thought this was it but no they stopped and I didn't have a thing until Wednesday night when I had a couple more! I was getting proper stressed at my body messing me about but Thursday morning I had my show and spent the day with a proper achy back. I'd had loads of BH since I was about 20 weeks and I was watching OBEM on 4od when I had a couple but I noticed that it hurt my back a little. Anyway I spent Thursday night having contractions but I didn't like to get my hopes up in case they stopped again.

Luckily DH had a lieu day on the Friday and in the morning my contractions were still there and getting stronger. I rang my mum to say we would come and get her after lunch to look after Charlie but not long after I had to ring her to say could she make her own way down cos it was getting pretty uncomfortable to sit down! Anyway she got here and I rang triage as I was in quite a bit of pain but the MW on the phone told me not to come in yet as I obviously wasn't in established labour as my contractions were only 30 seconds long and they needed to be 60 before I came in. I told her I really needed to be seen so she said I could go in but they'd only have to send me home again. So (after looking for the lost car keys) we set off to the hospital.

It was getting really uncomfortable in the car as I was sat down and I remember getting half way there and feeling baby in my bum and thinking 'oh shit' but then I thought nah must be imagining it, I can't be that far dilated. I started getting pretty noisy as we pulled up and DH was faffing about looking for change for the bloody pay and display machine! We got upstairs and the MW put us in a room and went to get my notes and I got a contraction and I could feel his head pushing!

DH ran for the MW and she came in and pulled my leggings down and said dead calm like ' oh I can see the head, i'll just press the buzzer' and all hell broke loose!!! A load of people came running and got me on the bed and I was fully dilated and then my waters burst all over (and I mean ALL over) the MW and everyone else! They got me on a bed and rushed me down the corridor to the birth centre with me pushing and doors and chairs banging out the way. We got in the room and within 30 mins of arriving at the hospital Lewis Casper was born weighing 6lb 8oz at 38 + 3. He's perfect and such a good baby. He latched on straight away and hasn't really come off since!

Good job I didn't listen to the bloody MW :dohh:

Oh so exciting! You could've ended up with a home/hospital car park birth so easily!

Congratulations x
