Im sure this is posted somewhere but I live out in the middle of no where and only have Internet on my phone and I get terrible service so I'll ask and hope for an answer. Yesterday around 6pm I tested using an ovulation tester from my local dollar store. It came up with two lines showing an lh surge. I knew from my calculations and the way my body was feeling that I was about to ovulate. I am
Not due to actually ovulate until the 5th though. This morning me being the worrier that I am I am feeling no ovulation symptoms that I was feeling. I tested and got no line. Is that possible to have an lh surge and then have it go away in not even 24 hours? Or did I just test too early in the morning. It was about 615 when I tested. Sorry if this is redundant and already been asked I just can't search on here too well with my poor service.

I had digital ovulation tests at the ready with my last cycle and believed that I ovulated quite soon after my AF ended.

I tested on day 7 (morning pee) negative.

On the morning of day 8 I tested in the morning and it was negative however my husband that morning was feeling exceptionally horney! Later that day around 4 pm I too started to feel the urge and so we were quite busy :sex: in the afternoon! At 10pm I decided I'd take a test - what the hell! and it came up positive!

However next morning day 9 it was again negative.

I have tried looking around myself to see if this short burst is normal and I have found a few forums here and there where people say it is and that everyone is different. I think I would have been happier seeing it last a little longer but hey I suppose you get what you get right!!

Good luck XX

Ugh I wish this could be super easy. I'm hoping I tested too early. I should still have three days before I actually ovulate. Maybe I'll try to test again tonight. Maybe it's best to test in the evening? I am on day 11. I would be happier seein mine last a lot longer too. I am trying not to stress too much about it.

Thanks for the reply!

Good luck to you as well. Xx:)

Opks are supposed to be very accurate... u probably ovulated early this month. Hope u bd last nite!!

On my tests it says you can test anytime as long as you hold pee for at least 4 hours before and so obviously the morning one is better. I have heard other woman say its best to test in the afteroon. None of those applied to me (10pm maybe held 2 or three hours pee!) Theres also the fact that it only detects the surge but apparently you might not still actually ovulate!! I know, it drives me nuts too!! I surely don't know whether i am coming or going with it all!!LOL x

Well I was able to google and apparently everything I found
On google said to wait until 2pm or later to test so I had one more test left. Took it after 2pm and once again my 2nd line want on there. So I guess I tested too early this morning? Idk. I just wanted to make sure I was ovulating. Not really to know when to bd cause thankfully we do that everyday anyway. So I'm hoping there's still a chance I'll actually ovulate. I'm still having a few cramps on one side and in my back.

Babydust to everyone.

I think you already have the answers on here but...

You should test with OPK's in the afternoon/evening as your LH surge is supposed to show then and not so much in the morning. You can get an LH surge but not ovulate...if you think this may be happening then keep testing as you will likely get another one and ovulate later...sometimes your body will try to ovulate (hence the LH surge) and fail and then try again days later successfully. Lastly your LH surge can be short or long...some ladies only get a positive OPK for a few hours and others for a few days. Short LH surges do not mean you are not ovulating - the only way to confirm ovulation is to chart your temperature (or have a blood test at the docs). :dust:

Thank you for your reply! I swore to myself I wouldn't get all TTC crazy and just let things happen.:dohh: I lied to myself and I have gotten ttc crazy. My bf wants a baby just as bad as I do so I have gotten pretty obesssed with TTC but all of this is just so new so I just don't wanna fail at this.

Lol, I think pretty much everyone on here at some point has sworn to themselves that they wouldn't get ttc crazy and I bet not one person can say they stuck to that promise!! We're all happy to answer any questions you may have on here :)

Thanks! Everyone has been so kind and sweet.

I just took another ovulation test and the second line showed up again. My only question is that all 3 lines that I have gotten have showed up but its a faint line. If I knew how to post a picture I would. Does that mean I am only having a little surge or that I am just not quite close to Ovulation yet or what? I wish this all wasn't so hard. Or that I wouldn't be obsessive over it. Todays line has been the darkest so far but it wasn't as dark as the first line. Also I keep saying people say I need to hold my pee 2 or 3 hours before taking it? I am most def not holding my pee so is that playing a factor or what? :dohh:

Ovulation tests are different to pregnancy tests - pregnancy tests if you have a line, even a faint one, then its positive but ovulation tests need the second line to be as dark or darker than the control line otherwise it is negative. Even if it is almost as dark as the control line that is still a negative. I find that in the week and a half before my positive the lines show a little less faint, and the day before I usually get an almost positive.

You really do need to hold your pee for 3/4 hours - but if you can't do that other ladies on here have said that it works just as well not drinking for 4 hours before you take the OPK. I usually aim to hold my pee for at least 2 hours before doing an OPK and not drink during that time. xx

Oh this is so difficult. Yesterday I took two. First mornings pee showed no line. Later in the day bowed a faint one. The one today showed a faint line not as faint still not as dark
As the control line. Today the test line showed up darker than the others just not as dark as the control line. I'm not holding my pee and I drink water all throughout the day so I guess that's my problem. This may me a tmi question but what are the stages of cm thought fertile and ovulation? My underwear has been wet all day and my cm is clear and watery.

I did the digital OPK - much less analyzing of the lines. BUT, I have looked up how to do the non digital ones... Apparently the control line is always there, and the second line has to be the same color or darker than the control line for you to have your LH surge, from what I understand. Hope that helps.

You could just be early yet for the positive - it does need to be as dark or darker than the control line though - it may be that OPK's just don't work for you if you drink a lot of water. If you have a regular 28 day cycle (looking at your sig) then you may not need to use them and can just assume when your fertile period is. Wet CM is fertile CM but Eggwhite CM is considered to be the most fertile - sounds like you are getting near O and are in your fertile period so def get BDing!

I am kinda in the same boat. My calendar says I'm not suppose to ovulate until the 6th but it hasn't always been 100%. Just to be sure I caught the big "O" I tested with a OPK on Wednesday (August 1st) and it was negative. I tested Thursday morning and it was positive, which I was very surprised by. Thursday afternoon I test again just out of curiosity and it was positive still. Then this morning it was negative (I just tested out of curiosity) Me and DH BDd last night and this morning. I started getting pain/cramps in my lower right abdomen last night so I'm hoping I ovulated last night/early this morning :) Baby Dust to you!

You guys are amazing. We've been bding anyway. Luckily we have high sex drives or something cause we bd everyday sometimes 2 times do
I'm def not worried about that I'm just worried about not oing. I wish I could just go back to those two days where I was ntnp haha. You ladies have been
So helpful. Thanks girls.

Baby dust to us all.

BabyDF keep me updated! We're pretty close in our dates I think. Fingers crossed for u!!!

If it's not O'ing you're worried about then you should try temping...you can get a positive OPK and not O. The only way (other than a blood test) to confirm O is to chart your temperatures and see the increase in temp after you O. Maybe that would be more useful to you than OPK's...especially if BDing regularly isn't an issue for you. The problem with temping by itself is that you have no warning of when you O, it only tells you after it has happened, so you need to BD lots around your fertile time until you see the temp increase.

So when my temps get high that means I O? Can I just a regular thermo?

You're supposed to use a special basal thermometer to get accurate readings - I'm not the best to ask on temping as I only did it for one cycle. The idea is that your temperature will increase by a small amount (hence the basal thermometer) after O and will stay higher until AF arrives. Maybe someone else can help a little more as I do not know a huge amount about temping! I just know it is the only way to confirm O happens (without going to the docs for a blood test) - which is annoying for me as I don't sleep well which can affect the temps you take when you wake up.
