Four ages now I've experienced serious punches/kicks to my cervix (the kinds that make you jump a little)... and I thought that was the "lightning crotch" ladies are referring to...

However the last two days have featured a new sensation where it feels like baby is stabbing me in the vagina (TMI, sorry) with a knife.

Is this "lightning crotch"? If so, not fun!!!

Yes the stabby pain is lightening crotch, it gets worse the further on you are!
X

i get that and always wondered what it was, love the name for it lol

what is it tho? x

I have had that a few times myself. It hurts! Can't wait not to have my insides beat every 5 minutes everyday! Lol

I assume its the baby just using your cervix as a head butting surface. I thing it's quite sharp as it can just nick a few nerves as its head banging or when it's engaging x

I've been getting that since about 35 weeks. My Dr said it's the head hitting my cervix, but it doesn't mean that the baby is engaged or that you're dilating. I'm 40 weeks, 5 days and still not engaged, and only dilated 1cm. Sigh. You'll get used to the feeling

My baby started doing that at 29 weeks when she was head down and midwife said it was her headbutting! She only turns upside down once or twice a week though :)

I have this, specially when im sat with my legs open. Its like a quick awful stabbing pain and it feels asthough shes got her nails and is clawing at the opening of my cervix! I have to shut my legs quickly and squeeze them together as tight as i can to stop her from doing it because its awful! Ive been getting it a few weeks now apparently they press there head firmly up against the cervix when engaging so its probably that. Its one of those things they dont warn you about pregnancy! I wont miss that part of it lol x

Thanks ladies. Our LO has been engaged for some time already... but I feel like it's even more so this last few days... so it makes sense. What a crazy feeling!!

I get this all the time baby been engaged since 37 weeks .. He's just ramming his head against my cervix... Lovely!

I've been getting this too- it really hurts! It was really bad on boxing day, I went for a walk and I would stop in my tracks every time it happened- ouch!
